Description: Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera went 4-for-5 with a run, an RBI, a walk and a steal Wednesday against the Orioles.
Insight: Cabrera had just two multi-hit games in the previous 20 games and hit .173 with 28 strikeouts in that span. The shortstop is batting .255 this season and is a strong fantasy contributor for his speed (12 steals).

5/8/2013 10:22:00 AM
Description: San Diego shortstop Everth Cabrera is hitless in seven at-bats versus Miami starter Ricky Nolasco with three strikeouts.
Insight: Cabrera is a valuable fantasy commodity for his speed (10 SB), but if you can't get on, you can't steal a base.

5/5/2013 9:52:00 AM
Description: San Diego shortstop Everth Cabrera is 2-for-14 (.143) with seven strikeouts against Diamondbacks starter Ian Kennedy.
Insight: Cabrera's average (.259) has dipped down to the expected level after a hot start. He's a valuable fantasy commodity for his speed (8 SB), but Kennedy has mostly prevented him from getting on base when they face off.

4/19/2013 11:26:00 AM
Description: San Diego shortstop Everth Cabrera is hitless in 11 career at-bats against San Francisco starter Madison Bumgarner with five strikeouts.
Insight: Cabrera, a .243 hitter, is batting .298 this season with an impressive .850 OPS, but this matchup should be avoided. Fantasy owners like him for his speed, he stole a league-leading 44 bases last season, but it's hard to add to your stolen base total if you can't get on first.

4/14/2013 9:52:00 AM
Description: San Diego shortstop Everth Cabrera extended his hitting streak to five games Saturday in a loss to Colorado.
Insight: Cabrera went 4-for-5 with two RBI. His solo home run in the seventh inning (a 410-foot missile over the center field fence) was his first round-tripper of the season and the sixth of his major league career.

4/10/2013 11:04:00 AM
Description: Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera is just 1-for-14 in his career against Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley with four strikeouts.
Insight: Cabrera's primary fantasy value is through the stolen base, but it's hard to get any if you can't get on first base. He's batting just .192 over the first seven games and also has the Biogenesis issue hanging over his head. Seek shortstop help elsewhere.

Description: Five more professional baseball players have been linked to the Biogenesis of America clinic run by Anthony Bosch, including Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera. SOURCE: ESPN.com
Insight: The other players were Athletics reliever Jordan Norberto, Astros outfielder Fernando Martinez, Padres reliever Fautino De Los Santos and Mets outfield prospect Cesar Puello. Sources said the players were on a list as having received PEDs. Cabrera is the only one of the five with fantasy appeal after he led the National League in steals last season.

10/4/2012 6:05:00 PM
Description: Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera finished first in the NL in stolen bases with 44 despite playing just 115 games.
Insight: Mike Trout won the AL crown with 49 in 139 games, but Cabrera was actually a more prolific base stealer. The shortstop was only caught four times.

8/22/2012 10:11:00 PM
Description: Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera set a single-season record Wednesday. His two steals in two attempts made him 24-for-24 this season, the most steals without a caught stealing in a season.
Insight: Chase Utley held the previous record by going 23-for-23 in 2009. Of course, Cabrera could always lose the record back to Utley by getting caught stealing over the remaining weeks of the season. Cabrera's 24 steals make him attractive to fantasy owners but his low average and lack of power limit him to NL-only leagues.

4/7/2010 2:41:00 PM
Description: Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and four RBI on Tuesday against Arizona.

3/25/2010 8:50:00 AM
Description: Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a run scored on Wednesday against the Mariners.
Insight: Cabrera is now batting .271 with no home runs and two RBI so far this Spring. His is expected to be the Padres' starting shortstop on Opening Day. (SportsBuff.com)
