Hoge grabs lead in Winnipeg

Winnipeg, MB (Sports Network) - Tom Hoge carded a four-under 67 on Friday to take the lead after two rounds of the Canadian Tour Players Cup.

Hoge had an eagle, three birdies and a bogey at Pine Ridge Golf Club for a total of nine-under 133 and is looking for his first Canadian Tour victory. This is only his third professional event and second on tour, having finished in a share of 46th at the Dakota Dunes Casino Open.

"I hit a lot of fairways, a lot of greens. I'm just trying to take advantage of the par-fives -- they're pretty reachable," said Hoge, a Monday qualifier. "I really like the golf course, it's what I'm familiar with. I'm just trying to roll in a few putts here and there."

First-round leader Josh Habig had a two-under 69 on Friday and is in second at eight-under 134. He's going for his second win on tour and first since 2006.

Dustin Risdon, owner of three wins on tour, remained in third at minus-seven after a 68 in his second round. Devin Carrey (67), Chris Killmer (66), Brian Prouty (65) and Roger Sloan (69) all share fourth at six-under.

Hoge started with a birdie on the first hole to jump to six-under, but gave the stroke back with a bogey on No. 3.

He parred the remaining holes on the front nine, but made a big move with an eagle at the par-five 12th.

Hoge followed the eagle with birdies at Nos. 13 and 15 to move to nine-under before parring out to maintain his lead.

Habig had three birdies and a bogey on Friday.

"It was a pretty solid round overall," Habig said. "I was happy with how steady -- a lot more stress free than (Thursday). I'll always take anything in the 60s."

NOTES: Izzy Beisiegel, who became the first woman to qualify for a men's pro tour, missed the cut at 12-over 154...The cut fell at two-over 144, with 69 players advancing to the weekend.
