NCAA Game Summary - Miami-Ohio at Illinois

Champaign, IL (Sports Network) - Nathan Scheelhaase threw five touchdowns, all in the first half, as the Illinois Fighting Illini rolled to a 50-14 victory over the Miami-Ohio RedHawks in a non-conference tilt at Memorial Stadium.
Scheelhaase completed 19-of-24 pass attempts for 278 yards and was also intercepted once for Illinois (3-1). Josh Ferguson hauled in a team-high five passes for 77 yards and a score and Matt LaCosse added three receptions for 68 yards and two scores. Donovonn Young rushed for 80 yards on 11 attempts while Ferguson added 71 yards on eight carries.
Austin Boucher finished with just 95 yards and a score on 7-of-13 passing for Miami (0-4), which has lost eight-straight games. Austin Gearing rushed for 81 yards on 16 carries.
Illinois got out to a fast start when it scored a touchdown on a two-yard pass from Scheelhaase to LaCosse on the ninth play of its first offensive possession.
Scheelhaase kept picking the RedHawks apart during an impressive second quarter when he threw four more touchdown passes. The first was an eight-yard scoring strike to Evan Wilson, after which the Illini were successful on a two-point conversion attempt. The third of Scheelhaase's touchdown passes was a 15-yard throw to Ferguson while the fourth was a four-yard pass to Jon Davis. The final touchdown pass came when Scheelhaase connected with LaCosse from 45 yards out.
In the second half the Illini continued to put their foot on the gas as Devin Church scored on a 12-yard touchdown run on the team's first possession of the third quarter.
Miami finally ended its scoring drought late in the third quarter with a one- yard touchdown pass from Boucher to Rokeem Williams. The RedHawks also got a touchdown early in the fourth quarter on a one-yard run from Grant Niemiec.
The Illini scored the final points of the game on a six-yard touchdown run from Aaron Bailey.
Illinois finished with 601 yards of total offense while allowing just 250 to the RedHawks. The Illini also had 36 first downs to only 14 by Miami.
