GAME NOTES: Coming off a dramatic overtime win on Wednesday night, the South Florida Bulls take to the court this weekend when they host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in American Athletic Conference action.

On Wednesday, South Florida senior forward Victor Rudd scored eight of his season-high 25 points in overtime as the Bulls defeated UCF 79-78.

While Rudd, USF's leading scorer at 15.0 ppg, was 11-of-19 from the field and added 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season, it was junior guard Shemiye McLendon's heroics with under a second left that lifted USF to the win.

After UCF's Isaiah Sykes' runner with two seconds on the clock was blocked by USF freshman center John Egbunu, the ball landed in the hands of McLendon, who was fouled by Kasey Wilson with 0.8 seconds remaining. McLendon hit his first free throw and missed the second on purpose.

UCF's Calvin Newell grabbed the rebound and heaved the ball the length of the court which clanked off the back of the rim for the would-be game-winner.

USF improved to 3-7 in conference play and has now won two of three games after losing four in a row.

Rutgers also sits at 3-7 in the AAC standings after losing to Memphis 101-69 on Tuesday night.

Junior forward Kadeem Jack led the Scarlet Knights with 12 points and grabbed six rebounds for Rutgers, which has lost five of six games overall. The Scarlet Knight were never really in it against the Tigers, falling behind 22-3 to start the game and were down 37-9 before they knew what hit them.

Myles Mack leads Rutgers in scoring with 15.8 ppg, while Jack is second with 13.6 ppg and a team-best 6.9 rpg.

The Scarlet Knights do average 74.7 ppg compared to just 66.6 ppg for USF, but the Bulls have a better scoring defense. USF yields just 69.4 ppg, while Rutgers allows 76.7 ppg.

This is the first meeting of the season between Rutgers and USF. The two schools have split the last six meetings with the home team winning the last five. The Scarlet Knights are 0-7 on the road this season and they haven't won in South Florida since Feb. 18, 2006.

Rutgers just isn't good enough on the road and its defense just isn't tough enough to stay with the Bulls. Expect South Florida to come away with this contest.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: South Florida 74, Rutgers 68
