GAME NOTES: The Xavier Musketeers are set to host the Wofford Terriers this afternoon in a non-conference matchup at the Cintas Center.

Wofford has largely struggled outside of Spartanburg this season with losses in six of seven road games. The Terriers have split the first two contests so far on their season-long, five-game road swing, which will conclude on Jan. 4 at Tulane before they get into the heart of their Southern Conference schedule. The Terriers are coming off Tuesday night's lopsided 94-52 victory at Jacksonville, marking their first road win of the season.

Meanwhile, Xavier is hoping to rebound from Wednesday's 60-45 home loss to 11th-ranked Cincinnati. The Musketeers can salvage a 2-2 homestand with a victory today. Following this contest, they'll be idle until visiting Tennessee next Saturday.

Xavier won the only prior meeting between these two schools, claiming a 94-90 triple-overtime victory during the 2010-11 campaign.

The Terriers turned in one of their best efforts of the season against Jacksonville, as they shot an impressive 55.7 percent from the floor and knocked down 13-of-25 3-pointers. They enjoyed a 37-24 rebounding advantage while forcing 16 turnovers and limiting Jacksonville to 38-percent shooting. Karl Cochran buried 5-of-9 threes en route to a game-high 29 points in the victory. Spencer Collins added 17 points and Jarell Byrd scored 12 off the bench, while Lee Skinner contributed 13 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Cochran has been the team's primary option on the offensive end with 16.8 points per game. Skinner (11.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg) and Collins (10.3 ppg) have also made steady contributions.

Xavier led nationally-ranked Cincinnati 24-22 at halftime of Wednesday's Crosstown Classic matchup, but the Bearcats thwarted the upset bid by opening the second half with a momentum-shifting 17-4 run. The loss spoiled an otherwise very impressive defensive effort by the Musketeers, who held the Bearcats to 32.8 percent shooting on their home floor. Travis Taylor was the only player in double figures for XU, as he recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Semaj Christon leads the Musketeers in scoring (14.7 ppg.), assists (5.2 apg.) and steals (1.3 spg.) and has already earned a pair of Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors so far this season. Another underclassman, sophomore Justin Martin, has scored in double figures in eight of his nine games played this season and is third on the team in scoring (11.0 ppg) and rebounding (5.1 rpg).

Given their youth, the Musketeers' near upset on the road of a nationally- ranked team was quite impressive. Both teams enter the game feeling confident, but Xavier has the edge playing at home.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Xavier 71, Wofford 64
