Normal, IL (Sports Network) - All five starters scored in double figures for Wyoming as the Cowboys earned an 81-67 win on the road over the Illinois State Redbirds at Redbird Arena.
Larry Nance Jr. had 19 points, Luke Martinez scored 17, Josh Adams and Leonard Washington each added 15 and Derrious Gilmore tacked on 13 for Wyoming (9-0).
Tyler Brown paced Illinois State (5-3) with 22 points while Jon Ekey added 13 and John Wilkins chipped in 12 off the bench. The Redbirds have lost three straight.
It was Illinois State that led at halftime by a sizable 43-29 edge after connecting on 53.1 percent of its shots in the opening frame. That included an 8-of-15 showing from 3-point range. Wyoming shot 44.0 percent and hit just 2- of-9 shots from beyond the arc.
The Cowboys used a 19-4 run midway through the second half to take a 64-63 lead and followed that with a 12-1 burst late in the period to pull away for the win. Wyoming shot a scorching 64.0 percent in the second half compared to an 8-of-18 effort from the Redbirds.
Wyoming outscored Illinois State 40-24 on points in the paint and turned 20 Redbird turnovers into 29 points.
