Final Score: IUPU-Ft Wayne 64, South Dakota State 60

Sioux Falls, SD (SportsNetwork.com) - Mo Evans posted 18 points off the bench, shooting 6-of-7 behind the 3-point line, as the Mastodons of IUPU-Ft Wayne held on to defeat the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, 64-60, in the semifinals of the 30th annual Summit League Tournament at Sioux Falls Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for second-seeded IPFW (24-9), were Pierre Bland and Steve Forbes with 12 and 10 points, respectively, the latter also claiming a team-best eight rebounds.

The third-seeded Jackrabbits (19-12) were led by Brayden Carlson with a game- high 19 points, although he shot just 5-of-17 from the floor overall and 1- of-5 behind the 3-point line. Chad White pitched in with 10 points, followed by Cody Larson and Jordan Dykstra with nine points apiece.

Fort Wayne shot only 37.9 percent from the field in the first half, connecting on a total of 11 field goals, but six of those came from 3-point range, providing the Mastodons with a 30-24 edge at the break.

With 45.0 seconds remaining Fort Wayne went up by six, 63-57, on a questionable tip in that could have easily been called offensive basket interference, but the field goal was not waved off.

Dykstra then converted a 3-pointer at the other end with just under 30 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to three. Following a failed free throw for the Mastodons, Carlson had an opportunity to tie the score, but missed on a 3- pointer from the wing.

Bland saved the day for IPFW as he knocked down the first of two free throws with 6.5 seconds left on the clock, providing the Mastodons with just a little breathing room on the way to the win.

SDSU was guilty of 18 turnovers, which the Mastodons traded in for 22 points.

With the victory, the Mastodons will now take on North Dakota State, which crushed Denver earlier in the evening in the other semifinal, 83-48, in the title game Tuesday night.
