Final Score: Miami-Florida 69, Boston College 42
Coral Gables, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Rion Brown delivered a game-high 22 points as the Miami Hurricanes blew by the Boston College Eagles, 69-42, in ACC play at the BankUnited Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Hurricanes (14-13, 5-9 ACC), as they posted their second straight win and the third in the last four outings, was Erik Swoope with 14 points, to go along with nine rebounds, while Manu Lecomte and Garrius Adams pitched in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Eagles (7-20, 3-11), coming off the huge upset win over top-ranked Syracuse in overtime three nights ago, were led by Patrick Heckmann with 15 points and Olivier Hanlan 11 as the squad fell back into the loss column for the sixth time in the last seven outings.
Miami scored the first points of the afternoon and never looked back, surviving a disappointing 35.7 percent accuracy from the field and 5-of-10 at the free-throw line in the first half in order to grab a 27-22 edge at the break. Of the eight field goals converted by BC, half came from 3-point range through the first 20 minutes of action.
The second half saw the visitors drop from 36.4 percent field goal accuracy to just 28.6 percent, including 0-of-8 beyond the arc, en route to the lopsided setback. The Hurricanes connected on 59.3 percent from the floor to close out the meeting.
The hosts held a 37-29 advantage on the glass and turned the ball over just three times on the day.
The 42 points scored by Boston College are the fewest since a 45-40 setback versus Providence on Feb. 26, 2000.
