Ahmad Starks and Angus Brandt each had 18 points for Oregon State (1-0) and
combined for 15 rebounds. Eric Moreland was a force on the inside with 14
points, 13 rebounds and five blocks. Joe Burton added 10 points.
Five different players were in double figures for Niagara (0-1) led by Marvin
Jordan with 17. Juan'ya Green (14), Ameen Tanksley (12), T.J. Cline (11) and
Antoine Mason (10) also reached double figures. Green had a team-high nine
assists as well.
Oregon State came out of the gates on fire hitting on 57.6 percent of its
first half shot attempts including 8-for-13 from beyond the arc. Niagara shot
well from three-point range (9-for-16) but not particularly well overall (38.5
percent) in the first half and trailed 53-39 at the break.
The Beavers kept it up in the second half connecting on 55.9 percent of their
shot attempts while Niagara fell behind at 37.8 percent.
Oregon State dominated on the inside outscoring Niagara 48-16 on points in the
paint while collecting 52 rebounds. Niagara held the edge in points off
