(Tuesday, November 13) Final Score: Houston 77, San Jose State 75 San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Behind 17 points apiece from TaShawn Thomas and Joseph Young, the Houston Cougars survived a late rally from the San Jose State Spartans to win, 77-75, at The Event Center. Thomas also grabbed 10 rebounds for Houston (2-0), while Danuel House added 11 points and Brandon Morris chipped in 10 points and five assists.. For San Jose State (0-2), D.J. Brown led all scorers with 24 points and James Kinney tallied a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards. Chris Cunningham shot 7-of-11 from the field for 15 points. With the game tied, 16-16, midway through the first half, Houston went on a 17-2 sprint it give it a sizeable cushion. The Cougars went into intermission with a 44-26 advantage. San Jose State clawed its way back into the game, ripping off a 17-6 run to pull to within five points of the lead with just over a minute remaining, but Houston was able to hold on by draining 8-of-10 from the foul line in the final 46 seconds of the game.
