Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - In an Atlantic 10 Conference showdown at
Hagan Arena, Carl Jones scored 24 points as the Saint Joseph's Hawks handled
the Fordham Rams, 82-56.
Jones knocked down 5-of-8 attempts from 3-point range for the Hawks (16-11,
7-7 A-10), who earned their second win in the last three games. Halil
Kanacevic just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds while
Ronald Roberts added 10 points seven rebounds. Both players recorded two
blocks as well.
Ryan Canty recorded a double-double with 15 rebounds and 14 points for the
Rams (6-23, 2-12), who have lost nine in a row. Mandell Thomas led the team in
scoring with 15 points to go with his eight rebounds while Branden Frazier
managed 11 points.
The Hawks carried a huge, 39-22, lead into the break after holding the Rams to
just 25.8 percent shooting from the field and 1-of-11 shooting from 3-point
range in the first half.
In the second half, Saint Joseph's increased its lead by shooting 62.1 percent
from the field.
Saint Joseph's shot 50.0 percent from the floor for the game and held the Rams
to just 33.3 percent shooting. While both teams took 24 shots from beyond the
arc, the Hawks knocked down 10 while Fordham hit on just five.
