NCAA Game Summary - Long Beach State at UC Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Bryson tallied 13 points and nine rebounds as the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos downed the Long Beach State 49ers, 64-51, in a Big West Conference battle at the UCSB Events Center.
Mitch Brewe and Alan Williams added 12 points each for UCSB (10-5, 1-1 BWC). Williams also pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds.
LBSU (5-11, 1-1) suffered its first setback in league play this season despite a strong showing by Mike Caffey, who tallied 21 points, four assists and three steals. Tyler Lamb struggled as he finished 1-of-13 from the field for only five points.
UCSB took a narrow, 26-24, lead into the intermission after it shot 44 percent from the floor in the opening period. The 49ers made only 2-of-11 tries from 3-point range before the break.
LBSU continued to struggle offensively in the second stanza as it made good on only 30.3 percent of its field goal tries including a 3-of-16 clip from 3- point range. The Gauchos pulled away by converting 56.7 percent of their field goal tries. UCSB used a team effort to pull away which featured six players contributing five points or more over the final 20 minutes of the game.
Despite the loss, the 49ers managed to outscore the hosts, 21-6, in points off of turnovers. UCSB led by as many as 19 in the second half.
