NCAA Game Summary - Houston Baptist vs. Cal State Fullerton

Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Tyler Russell's 20 points and six rebounds led the Huskies, as Houston Baptist took down Cal State Fullerton 88-83 in the final round of the Beryl Shipley Classic at the Cajundome.

Marcel Smith and Ronald March each had 17 points for HBU (2-3) as it won its first game of the tournament. Marcus Davis had 15 points and five rebounds and Joe Latas chipped in with 12.

D.J. Seeley had 25 points for the Titans (3-1) in their first loss of the season. Kwame Vaughn and Omondi Amoke each played very well as they had scoring totals of 21 and 20, respectively. Orane Chin contributed a double- double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

HBU led 43-40 at halftime after jumping out to an early 14-0 advantage. The Huskies came out hot as they shot 50 percent from the floor in the first twenty minutes.

The Huskies hung on to the lead as Cal State Fullerton went 0-for-9 from three point range in the second half.

Cal State Fullerton still won the Beryl Shipley Classic, despite the loss as it won its first two games. HBU's win over the Titans was its first of the tournament.
