Lawrenceville, NJ (Sports Network) - Ryan Thompson delivered the Rider Broncs a 71-65 win over the UMBC Retrievers, as he scored 16 points and grabbed nine boards in a BracketBuster event at Alumni Gym.
Justin Robinson and Harris Mansell both netted 15 points for Rider (16-11), which captured its second win in a row.
Darryl Proctor headed the charge for UMBC (12-15) with a double-double that consisted of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Chauncey Gilliam had one of his own with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Jay Greene logged 14 points in the setback.
UMBC went 4-of-11 from long range compared to a 1-of-10 showing by Rider in the first half, as the Retrievers held a 38-34 edge at the break.
Over the final 20 minutes, Rider shot 51.9 percent from the floor and it scored the six-point win.
The Broncs won the battle on the boards, 41-37, and made good on 19-of-27 shots at the foul line.
