Final Score: Boston University 91, Army 70
Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - D.J. Irving led with 20 points as Boston University defeated Army, 91-70, in the Patriot League semifinal game on Saturday.
Malik Thomas supplied 15 points and seven rebounds and Dom Morris contributed 16 points as the Terriers (24-9) will face American University in Wednesday's championship game.
John Papale chipped in 14 points, while Maurice Watson Jr. had a game-high 17 helpers to go with 10 points in Boston U's fourth straight victory.
Kyle Wilson paced Army (15-16) with 22 points and Dylan Cox had 12 points and five boards, as the Black Knights' two-game win streak ended.
The Black Knights started off the game hot on an 8-2 run that Wilson capped with a layup, but Thomas fueled a timely 8-0 burst with a jumper and layup to knot the game at 10.
Irving capped a 9-2 burst with a trey to give the Terriers a 10-point lead with 2:49 to go, but Army scored the final six points of the half to get within four, 39-35, heading into the break.
Less than a minute into the half, Army tied the game at 39, but Boston U took a 12-point lead after Watson Jr. hit a jumper to make it a 62-50 game just past the halfway point.
Army could not cut into the lead and Boston U's lead swelled to as many as 24 points in the final minutes.
Final Score: American University 57, Holy Cross 46
Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jesse Reed scored 18 points in American University's 57-46 win over Holy Cross in the Patriot League semifinal on Saturday.
Kyle Kager and Darius Gardner both supplied 10 points for the Eagles (19-12), who will face Boston University in Wednesday's championship game. Tony Wroblicky contributed nine points and a game-high seven assists in the win.
Dave Dudzinski paced the Crusaders (19-13) with a game-high 22 points and nine rebounds. Malcolm Miller provided 10 points and 10 boards for Holy Cross, who won three of their last four games entering the contest.
Gardner hit back-to-back triples during a 10-0 run to put American up 16-7 close to the midway point of the first half.
Holy Cross took the lead on a 14-2 burst that was fueled by seven points apiece by Miller and Dudzinski to make it a 24-20 game with just under four minutes to go in the first half. The Crusaders took a 28-22 lead into the break.
Down by 10 early in the second half, the Eagles took the lead thanks to a 15-2 swing that ended with a Wroblicky layup at 3:16 to make it a 49-41 game. Reed had seven points in the spurt.
Miller hit a triple with 58 seconds left to cut the deficit to eight points, but the Eagles scored the final three points to hold on for the win.
