Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyreek Duren scored 17 points to help the La Salle Explorers beat the Quinnipiac Bobcats 73-67 at Tom Gola Arena.
Steve Zack was among four La Salle players in double figures, registering 15 points to go along with six rebounds. Tyrone Garland had 12 points and Jerrell Wright totaled 11 points and 12 boards for the Explorers (1-1), who lost in two overtimes to Manhattan in their season opener on Saturday.
Freshman Kasim Chandler scored 19 points for Quinnipiac (1-1), which began its campaign with a win over Hartford. Ike Azotam supplied 17 points and Zaid Hearst had eight points with 10 boards.
Clinging to a four-point lead, Duren had his shot blocked by Hearst and then committed a foul. Hearst sank both free throws to trim the Bobcats' deficit to 67-65 with 37.7 seconds remaining.
Sam Mills and Garland both made two foul shots around a missed 3-pointer by Umar Shannon to put the game away.
The two teams took part in the tip-off marathon with a 9 AM (et) start.
