Olean, NY (Sports Network) - Andrew Nicholson erupted for 32 points and 13 rebounds to lead St. Bonaventure to a convincing 81-61 win over the Rhode Island Rams in Atlantic 10 Conference play at the Reilly Center.
Nicholson made good on 12-of-15 shots from the floor and added three blocked shots for the Bonnies (14-10, 7-5 A-10) as they logged their second win in the last three outings. Also scoring in double figures for the hosts was Demitrius Conger with 10 points.
The Rams (5-23, 2-11) were paced by Mike Powell with 20 points, while Nikola Malesevic accounted for 14 and five rebounds off the bench in the team's fifth consecutive setback.
The hosts scored the first points of the afternoon and never looked back, hitting on an impressive 62.5 percent from the floor, including 7-of-12 behind the three-point line, in claiming a 48-26 lead at the break. The Bonnies also knocked down all but one of their 12 free throws in the frame.
In the second half St. Bonaventure again converted 11-of-12 at the charity stripe, allowing the squad to cruise to the comfortable win.
URI finished the contest with just 33.9 percent accuracy from the floor and 4- of-17 beyond the arc.
