Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Eric Evans led the way with 17 points as the Duquesne Dukes downed the Richmond Spiders, 81-72, in an Atlantic 10 Conference tilt at the A.J. Palumbo Center.

For the Dukes (14-9, 5-4 A-10), Sean Johnson and Jerry Jones each finished with 14 points, T.J. McConnell scored 13 points and B.J. Monteiro chipped in 10 points.

Kendall Anthony led the Spiders (12-12, 3-6) with 21 points, while Derrick Williams and Cedrick Lindsay finished with 16 and 11 points, respectively.

Both teams shot well to start the game. Richmond connected on 52.6 percent from the field and the Dukes hit on 46.9 percent of their field goals. The Spiders' sloppy play hurt them in the first half, as the Dukes scored 15 points off turnovers, to go along with nine second-chance points. Duquesne never trailed in the half, as it took a 35-31 lead into the break.

After halftime the Dukes continued to shoot well, making 46.7 percent of their shots, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. The Spiders struggled somewhat, shooting just 40.6 from the field, including 5-of-16 on their three- point attempts. With the first basket of the second half, Richmond was able to cut their deficit to just three, but they would get no closer, as the Dukes pushed their lead to as many as 16 in the half and coasted to the easy victory, snapping a 14-game losing streak to the Spiders.

Duquesne scored 24 points off 16 Richmond turnovers and also dominated in the paint, outscoring the Spiders 42-24.
