Macon, GA (Sports Network) - Langston Hall poured in 24 points to lead the Mercer Bears to a 60-38 victory over the Sam Houston State Bearkats in the CBE Classic at the University Center.
Monty Brown added 11 points off the bench for Mercer (3-1), while Bud Thomas finished with eight rebounds and five assists.
Demarcus Gatlin and Marcus James led the way for Sam Houston State (1-2), as the two players finished with nine points apiece.
The Bears held Sam Houston State to a dreadful 21.1 percent shooting effort in the opening half and went into the break with a 23-13 lead.
Mercer drilled 5-of-11 three-point attempts in the second half and also finished 10-of-14 from the foul line, en route to the win.
The Bears were 9-of-22 from behind the arc, while the Bearkats made just two of their 12 three-point attempts.
