Description: As if the NFL media doesn't have enough to cover as it is (with the impending lockout at the forefront)... but today a local Houston area website has posted pictures of CB Kareem Jackson attending a cockfight in the Dominican Republic.
Honestly, I don't have an opinion one way or another as to how players choose to spend their off-season... as long as they aren't doing anything illegal. Although cockfighting is illegal in this country, it's perfectly legal in the Dominican.
Here's an excerpt from this Houston website that just doesn't sit well with me:
"Dumb, dumb, dumb. There is no excuse for an NFL player to be so ignorant that he actually flaunts inhumane treatment to animals '" no matter the context.
Jackson was not a 5-year-old when the Michael Vick episode occurred. Yes '" before you think anything '" this isn't about legal vs. illegal. Cockfighting is legal in the Dominican. It's about the perception an NFL athlete bears by participating in any way in a controversial event '? and, worse, publicizing it."
Really??? That's your argument? Inhumane treatment of animals? Do you eat beef or chicken? Have you seen how this stuff is prepared? I'm quite certain that the same guy who wrote this piece eats a steak, burger or chicken.
My point is... why make a big deal out of this? Your thoughts are welcomed below.
