Insight: Ryans is sitting out his second straight game after suffering the elbow injury in week one. Ryans is probably done for the rest of the preseason, which can help in his recovery from Achilles' surgery. We're not ready to bump him down in our rankings just yet.

Description: Texans coach Gary Kubiak announced in his post-game press conference Sunday that MLB DeMeco Ryans has a torn Achilles' tendon and is done for the season.

Insight: Huge blow to the Texans defense that just got Brian Cushing back on the strong-side. After Ryans went down, Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones had their way with the defense. Daryl Sharpton and Zac Diles will be candidates to take over MIKE duties. David Nixon also filled in admirably during the week 6 contest, as well so he might get some consideration. Ryans was having a monster season so this will be a huge blow to IDP owners.

Description: Houston signed Ryans to a six year extension on Tuesday.
Insight: He is a tackling machine, averaging 130 of them per season over his career. He's well worth a high pick in IDP leagues. (SportsBuff.com)

Description: According to The Houston Chronicle, Ryans is expected to get more pass rushing opportunities in new defensive coordinator Frank Bush's more aggressive scheme.
Insight: Ryans has had at least 112 tackles in each of his three NFL seasons, so his value in IDP fantasy leagues is already fairly high. An extra sack or two will only help his fantasy value.

Description: The Houston Chronicle reports that Ryans will not join the team for voluntary workouts that begin on Monday.
Insight: The star middle linebacker might be seeking a larger contract, but skipping these activities isn't a big deal for someone who has been with the team for three years. If Ryans starts to avoid the mandatory stuff, then we'll take notice. (SportsBuff.com)

Description: Ryans put up a game-high 10 solo tackles and 13 total against the Titans on Sunday.
Insight: Ryans should never leave your lineup unless he's hurt or on bye. (Matt Schauf/SportsBuff.com)
