Description: The Chargers have signed running back Ronnie Brown.
Insight: He spent 2012-13 in San Diego, however the reunion is not expected to last long. Donald Brown (concussion) is looking unlikely for this week, giving Ronnie Brown an opportunity to prove himself. However, Ryan Mathews is expected back soon, as well. This is not a fantasy-relevant move.

Description: The Chargers have re-signed running back Ronnie Brown.
Insight: Brown served as San Diego's third-down back last season and had 49 catches but San Diego also signed Danny Woodhead Friday. Both players will have limited value outside of deep PPR leagues but they also will prevent Ryan Mathews from being more than a two-down back.
8/12/2012 10:13:00 PM
Description: According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Chargers coach Norv Turner said the team will "probably" use a mix between Ronnie Brown, Le'Ron McClain and Curtis Brinkley to replace running back Ryan Mathews (broken collarbone).
Insight: None of those three (or the unmentioned Jackie Battle) will make for good fantasy options in place of Mathews.
8/10/2012 10:07:00 AM
Description: Former Dolphins and Eagles running back Ronnie Brown, who signed with the Chargers in the offseason, will be the team's starter in Ryan Mathews' absence according to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Insight: The bad news for Chargers fans is that Brown hasn't averaged four yards-per-carry in either of the past two seasons. He's a decent receiver out of the backfield which fits with the San Diego offense, but don't be surprised if the Chargers are looking for backfield help.
6/8/2012 5:43:00 PM
Description: Former Dolphins and Eagles running back Ronnie Brown has signed a one-year deal with the Chargers.
Insight: San Diego needed a backup running back to Ryan Mathews now that Mike Tolbert has moved on to Carolina. Fullback Mathews isn't the most durable player, having missed six games in his first two NFL seasons, and Le'Ron McClain and seventh-round pick Edwin Baker are the only other options at running back besides Brown, so the seven-year pro could prove to be a solid handcuff back.

Description: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Lions and Eagles' swap of Ronnie Brown and Jerome Harrison has been voided to due "health issues" with Harrison.
Source: Adam Schefter via Twitter
Insight: This definitely hurts the Lions as they needed a bigger back to complement Best and someone that could be durable between the tackles and in short yard situations. Brown should go back to the waiver wire and Keiland Williams and Maurice Morris will share first-team reps if Jahvid Best misses week 7.
10/18/2011 4:18:00 PM
Description: Eagles traded RB Ronnie Browns to the Lions in exchange for Jerome Harrison and an undisclosed 2013 draft pick.
Source: Jason LaCanfora via Twitter
Insight: It's a good fit for both teams and Harrison will return to the Eagles to backup LeSean McCoy. The Lions get a back with more stature to backup Jahvid Best in the backfield. It's possible that Browns gets some of the short yard work, and possibly, goal-line work once he gets up to speed in the offense. For this week, Maurice Morris is the back to own if Best misses this week, but Brown should be picked up for value going forward.

Description: Eagles signed RB Ronnie Brown to a one-year contract.
Source: Jeff Darlington via Twitter
Insight: Brown has lost a few steps due to injury and he's reaching the age of 30. He won't eat into any of McCoy's carries, but should be considered the clear hand-cuff if LeSean McCoy goes down to injury.
5/13/2011 12:17:00 PM
Description: Free agent RB Ronnie Brown is still "very interested" in re-signing with the Dolphins, despite the team drafting RB Daniel Thomas.
Insight: Brown won't get a starting job elsewhere after averaging a mere 3.7 in 2010, but the team could use him as the situational backup they will be looking for once free agency begins. He will not compete with Thomas for the starting job if brought back.
1/12/2011 3:40:00 PM
Description: The Dolphins aren't expected to bring back free agent RB Ronnie Brown.
SOURCE: PALM BEACH POST
Insight: Brown's injury-plagued career will make any team nervous to sign him as anything more than a committee back. Ricky Williams is also a free agent, but there is a chance that he could be brought back to bridge the gap if the team drafts their future at the position.
12/27/2010 10:02:00 AM
Description: Brown carried 12 times for 37 yards and a touchdown Sunday, catching six passes for 34 more yards.
Insight: It was just Brown's fifth touchdown of the season, and the receptions topped his combined total (five) from the previous four games. (RapidDraft.com)
12/22/2010 10:39:00 AM
Description: A free agent in 2011, Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown wants to return to Miami next year.
SOURCE: MIAMI HERALD
Insight: "I have to prepare myself so that if I'm not here next year, I won't go into any kind of depression or anything." Brown has been a big disappointment this year after we predicted he would have a big bounce-back year, but the rushing offense as a whole isn't what it used to be. We still aren't sure if the Dolphins will bring Brown back, or re-sign Ricky Williams and draft a rookie. Brown's dynasty value isn't looking great right now
12/13/2010 12:03:00 PM
Description: Brown carried 16 times for just 55 yards in Sunday's victory over the Jets.
Insight: The Jets present a tough matchup for any running back, but this is right in line with Brown's nearly valueless season. (RapidDraft.com)
12/6/2010 12:02:00 PM
Description: Brown ran for just 50 yards on 16 carries against the Browns, catching two passes for 27 more yards.
Insight: It was the fifth time this year that Brown finished a game with 50 yards or less on the ground. Ricky Williams has been the more productive runner in a disappointing backfield. (RapidDraft.com)
11/20/2010 2:02:00 PM
Description: Brown garnered just three carries for 10 yards in Thursday night's loss to the Bears. He also caught three passes for 19 more yards.
Insight: The Bears present a solid run defense, but Miami's lack of even attempting to run was baffling -- especially when you consider that Tyler Thigpen was making his first start at quarterback. The lack of rushing production all year combined with Miami's O-line injuries provides more than enough reason to forget about Brown in fantasy. (RapidDraft.com)
11/7/2010 6:05:00 PM
Description: Brown ran nine times for 59 yards and a touchdown against Baltimore in Week 9. He also caught a season-high five passes for 40 more yards.
Insight: Any fantasy owners who were forced to start Brown in Week 9 wound up happy, but this isn't exactly the kind of performance that points to future upside. The nine carries tied for his lowest total of the season, and the touchdown was Brown's first since Week 1. (RapidDraft.com)
10/5/2010 2:02:00 AM
Description: Brown managed just 27 yards on 11 carries and caught four passes for 29 yards.
Insight: Brown hasn't done much this season, but he does continue to get a larger serving of the carries than Ricky Williams. (RapidDraft.com)
9/30/2010 4:57:00 PM
Description: According to Dolphins OC Dan Henning, RB Ronnie Brown dealt with a hamstring injury against the Jets.
Insight: As a result, Brown's rushing yards and average were down, but the team doesn't seem too concerned. Brown will get an extra day to rest for Monday night against the Patriots.
9/29/2010 9:05:00 PM
Description: The team is concerned about Ricky Williams' recent fumbling. This could lead to more carries for Ronnie Brown, especially near the goal line.
Insight: Brown has fumbled just three times since 2006 and has been the more productive runner this season. He brings big injury issues but could also be a buy-low candidate as a result of a somewhat light workload so far. (RapidDraft.com)
9/19/2010 11:04:00 PM
Description: Brown carried 13 times for 80 yards and caught one pass as his Dolphins knocked off the Vikings.
Insight: That's OK production but also a good indication of why Brown isn't more attractive to fantasy owners. One can't count on a much bigger workload in a typical week, turning Brown into more of a matchup play. (RapidDraft.com)
