Description: Jets running back Mike Goodson (torn ACL/MCL) is a no-show at mandatory minicamp according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.
Insight: Goodson doesn't figure to get much work this season anyway, as he's well down the depth chart. He's more likely to be cut that have any fantasy value this season.
10/14/2013 2:22:00 PM
Description: Jets halfback Mike Goodson suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Sunday's game against Pittsburgh.
Insight: Combined with his four-game suspension makes this a "lost" season for Goodson. Whether he'll make next season's roster is now up in the air.
8/26/2013 10:35:00 PM
Description: The NFL has slapped Jets halfback Mike Goodson with a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Insight: He's been absent for all of training camp though ESPN's Adam Schefter is hearing that Goodson will arrive at Jets camp sometime within the next 24 hours. Goodson racked up 221 yards on just 35 carries last year with Oakland. He'll be eligible to return October 7th against the Falcons.
6/7/2013 3:00:00 PM
Description: Jets running back Mike Goodson could avoid gun charges if the report from Mike Garafolo of USA Today is correct that the driver of the car has claimed ownership of the gun.
Insight: Goodson still has to deal with drug charges, but the chances are he'll return to the field a lot sooner now without the gun charges in addition. Chris Ivory appears to be the early favorite for starting role with Goodson as his backup.
5/28/2013 8:15:00 PM
Description: According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Jets running back Mike Goodson returned to practice Tuesday. Goodson was arrested on weapon and drug charges earlier this month and pled not guilty last week.
Insight: Goodson's attorney said that the legal proceedings could go on for months, but Goodson should be able to practice through the process. That leaves him in the running back mix along with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell. Ivory seemingly is in the lead, however.
5/17/2013 11:43:00 AM
Description: USA Today's Mike Garafolo is reporting that Jets running back Mike Goodson was arrested early Friday morning on drug possession and weapons charges.
Insight: Goodson is in the mix with Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight to be the Jets' starting tailback in 2013. This arrest certainly won't help his chances.
12/2/2012 3:26:00 PM
Description: Oakland backup running back Mike Goodson will miss Week 13 due to his ankle injury.
Insight: With Darren McFadden also out, fullback Marcel Reece will handle the workload and is a very good fantasy option.
11/23/2012 2:21:00 PM
Description: Beat writer Steve Corkran is reporting that Oakland running back Mike Goodson will miss Week 12 due to his ankle injury.
Insight: Fullback Marcel Reece, off a 103-yard rushing, 90-yard receiving day, will handle the workload and is a very good fantasy option.
11/20/2012 12:35:00 PM
Description: Oakland running back Mike Goodson is still dealing with his high-ankle sprain and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Cincinnati.
Insight: Fullback Marcel Reece, off a 103-yard rushing, 90-yard receiving day, will handle the workload if both McFadden and Goodson are again sidelined.
11/9/2012 4:44:00 PM
Description: Oakland running back Mike Goodson has joined starter Darren McFadden on the sidelines for Week 10.
Insight: A golden opportunity missed by Goodson, who would have been in line for a big time workload in the absence of McFadden. Taiwan Jones and fullback Marcel Reece will handle the workload.
11/5/2012 4:26:00 PM
Description: Oakland running back Mike Goodson has indeed suffered the dreaded "high ankle" sprain and is likely to miss an extended period of time.
Insight: A golden opportunity missed by Goodson, who would have been in line for a big time workload in the absence of lead back Darren McFadden (also out with a high ankle sprain). Taiwan Jones and Marcel Reece will take over the running back duties for the Raiders next week in Baltimore with Reece being the more appealing fantasy option because of his receiving ability (eight grabs, 95 yards and a TD Sunday against the Buccaneers).
11/5/2012 1:58:00 PM
Description: Raiders backup RB Mike Goodson was is line to take over the primary running back role on Sunday after starter Darren McFadden sustained a high-ankle sprain, but Goodson also fell victim to an ankle injury.
Insight: Goodson didn't require x-rays, but we will still have to wait and see if this injury keeps him out of the lineup. If McFadden and Goodson are both unable to play, fullback Marcel Reece might be Oakland's best option. Reece caught eight balls for 95 yards and a touchdown against the Bucs.
8/16/2012 5:25:00 PM
Description: According to the Oakland Tribune, Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie said he was interested in running back Cedric Benson but ultimately decided that Mike Goodson was more than capable of backing up Darren McFadden.
Insight: Goodson didn't carry the ball a single time last season but he rushed for 452 yards and three touchdowns and caught 40 balls for 310 yards in 2010, so he could be a sleeper as a handcuff to the oft-injured McFadden.
3/30/2012 8:42:00 PM
Description: Mike Goodson has been traded to the Oakland Raiders.
Insight: Goodson didn't record a single rushing yard last season in Carolina but he had been fairly productive the season before that (452 yards, three touchdowns). With Michael Bush in Chicago now, Goodson should be the Raiders' No. 2 back behind Darren McFadden. If McFadden gets hurt again in 2012, Goodson could be a fantasy sleeper.
12/9/2010 6:29:00 PM
Description: Panthers RB Mike Goodson is not listed on the team's injury report for Week Fourteen, despite suffering a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder last weekend.
Insight: We had thought Goodson would at least be questionable, but it looks like he is going to play. Considering Jonathan Stewart's recent surge, we don't much faith in Goodson this weekend against the Falcons.
11/10/2010 4:09:00 PM
Description: The Panthers are expected to start RB Mike Goodson against the Buccaneers this weekend.
Insight: The Panthers are decimated in the backfield, with DeAngelo Williams (foot), Jonathan Stewart (concussion), and Tyrell Sutton (ankle) all skipping practice this week. The Buccaneers are one of the worst defenses against the run, but it's hard to rank Goodson as anything more than a desperation flex behind such a poor offensive line.
