Description: LaDainian Tomlinson will sign a one-day contract so he can retire as a member of the San Diego Chargers. Tomlinson will hold a press conference to officially announce his retirement on Monday.
Insight: Tomlinson's last two seasons with the Jets were forgettable but he was a beast for the Chargers and seems like a lock for the Hall of Fame. His 13,684 career rushing yards is the fifth-highest total in NFL history.

Description: Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers put in the word that he'd like to have LaDainian Tomlinson back in San Diego as a third-down back.
Insight: Tomlinson last said he was 95-percent sure he was going to retire, but maybe you can go home again. With Darren Sproles last year and Mike Tolbert this offseason leaving town there may be a need for a back who can block and catch passes out of the backfield.

Description: LaDainian Tomlinson has said that he is 95 percent sure he is going to retire.
Insight: 2011 was Tomlinson's worst season as a pro (280 yards, 1 TD) and at age 32, he's taken a lot of punishment in his 11-year NFL career. LT's 28 TD/1,815-yard season in 2006 will go down as one of the greatest seasons in league history. If this is the end for Tomlinson, he will finish his career with 13,684 rushing yards, the fifth-most all time.

Description: LaDainian Tomlinson has been diagnosed with a sprained left MCL.
Source: Manish Mehta via Twitter
Insight: It's the same knee that hampered him a few seasons ago but, an MRI showed no structural damage. In a short week, it appears that LT will likely miss Thursday's game against Denver, meaning Joe McKnight could see some action this week.

Description: According to the NFL Network, LaDainian Tomlinson is going to start against the San Diego Chargers in week 7.
Insight: It might be just to start against his former team and they're trying to showcase him for some showmanship. We don't think LT will get all of Shonn Greene's snaps or touches and Greene should still get enough touches to warrant him being an RB2 this week. We wouldn't be surprised, that with Greene's lack of production, he doesn't nearly as many carries as he's had in recent weeks.
5/4/2011 10:49:00 AM
Description: Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson conceded that RB Shonn Greene is ready to take over as the feature back.
Insight: Tomlinson knows his time is almost up. And while he may not be the player he used to be, he will still be a big part of the team's passing game. Unfortunately, he makes for a pretty weak handcuff with Joe McKnight expected to get carries. Rookie Bilal Powell could also get involved.
5/2/2011 11:34:00 AM
Description: Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson's roster spot is still safe after the team used a fourth-round pick on RB Bilal Powell.
Insight: Powell is closer to Shonn Greene as a downhill runner, so the team would still like to use LT as a change-of-pace player. A free agent in 2012, this year could very well be Tomlinson's last as a Jet.
3/1/2011 1:22:00 PM
Description: The Jets will retain RB LaDainian Tomlinson for the 2011 season.
Insight: It's not like LT's $2.425 million salary is huge for his expected backup role behind Shonn Greene. Tomlinson is really only valuable later on in PPR drafts. He would need a Greene injury or Greene to fall flat on his face to have any real fantasy value.
1/28/2011 3:02:00 PM
Description: Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum says he expects RB LaDainian Tomlinson back in 2011 "as of now."
Insight: Tannenbaum also gave himself some wiggle room by saying that "these things could change." Tomlinson was a nice surprise at the beginning of the season, but he faded down the stretch and came up empty in the playoffs. LT could be on the outs.

Description: It's not a lock that the Jets will bring back RB LaDainian Tomlinson for 2011.
SOURCE: NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
Insight: LT started out hot in 2010, but faded considerably down the stretch and wasn't a huge factor past the Wild-Card round of the playoffs. But only set to make $2.425 million, Tomlinson should at least get the opportunity to play out the rest of his deal. If Shonn Greene can start off hot in 2011, LT makes for a reliable backup.
1/4/2011 11:00:00 AM
Description: Tomlinson was a healthy scratch from the Week 17 game and will be in the lineup for the first-round playoff game against the Colts.
Insight: The Colts didn't defend the run well overall in 2010 but tightened up considerably in that area at the end of the season. Tomlinson's long drought after a strong start plus the crowd in the Jets' backfield weakens his case for playoff fantasy folks. (RapidDraft.com)
1/1/2011 9:03:00 PM
Description: Tomlinson is not expected to play much on Sunday and could spend the whole day on the sideline.
Insight: This should be no big loss to fantasy owners. Tomlinson's touchdown at Chicago last week was his first since Week 6. (RapidDraft.com)
12/30/2010 4:00:00 PM
Description: According to Jets HC Rex Ryan, RB LaDainian Tomlinson could rest for the entire game against the Bills Sunday.
Insight: LT's productivity has dwindled in the last few weeks, so giving him some time off to prepare for the first week of the playoffs makes sense. Shonn Greene will probably start, but may not see an entire game. Joe McKnight could be worth a look in PPR leagues against a terrible Bills rushing defense.
12/26/2010 10:04:00 PM
Description: Tomlinson carried 13 times for just 28 yards at Chicago on Sunday but did score his first touchdown since Week 6.
Insight: It was probably just desperate fantasy owners that started Tomlinson this week, as his production has spiraled downward of late. (RapidDraft.com)
12/13/2010 12:04:00 PM
Description: Tomlinson carried 19 times for just 49 yards in Sunday's loss, adding two catches for just 5 more yards.
Insight: Tomlinson hasn't reached 60 yards since Week 5 and hasn't found the end zone since Week 6. He's a weak fantasy option right now -- albeit with some PPR upside -- especially with the Steelers coming up. (RapidDraft.com)
12/1/2010 1:02:00 AM
Description: The past two games have brought Tomlinson's smallest carry totals since the 11 he notched in weeks 1 and 2.
Insight: The team continues to use him heavily in the passing game but is clearly cutting back on Tomlinson's rushing workload to lessen the wear on the veteran. It's a smart move, since he wasn't generating huge yardage on the ground anyway. (RapidDraft.com)
11/22/2010 11:02:00 AM
Description: Tomlinson ran for just 36 yards on a mere 12 carries Sunday but added seven catches for 71 more yards.
Insight: It was the fifth straight game in which Tomlinson ran for less than 60 yards. Fortunately, his receiving stats are carrying his PPR value for now in fantasy. (RapidDraft.com)
11/15/2010 11:01:00 AM
Description: Tomlinson carried 18 times for just 57 yards at Cleveland in Week 10, but he also led the team with six receptions.
Insight: It was the second straight week in which Tomlinson led the team or tied for the lead in targets. That's particularly significant for his PPR value given the growing workload for Shonn Greene on the ground. (RapidDraft.com)
10/3/2010 11:02:00 PM
Description: Tomlinson carried 19 times for 133 yards and two touchdowns against the Bills, adding 22 more yards on three catches.
Insight: Let's go out on a limb and say that Tomlinson might actually have something left. It didn't even matter than he wound up getting fewer carries than Shonn Greene. (RapidDraft.com)
10/3/2010 4:21:00 PM
Description: Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson looks like his old self, rushing for 119 yards and two TDs in a 38-14 blowout win over Buffalo.
Insight: Shonn Greene actually had three more carries, but LT is being trusted in the red zone and continues to be a legitimate RB2 and could work his way to RB1.
