Landover, MD (Sports Network) - Alex Smith threw for 200 yards and a touchdown and Frank Gore ran for 107 yards, as the San Francisco 49ers earned a 19-11 victory over the Washington Redskins.

Gore became the first player in San Francisco franchise history to record five consecutive 100-yard rushing performances and David Akers hit four field goals for the 49ers (7-1), who have won six straight for the first time since winning 11 in a row back in 1997.

"We're playing really good football," said 49ers first-year coach Jim Harbaugh. "We're playing unselfish football."

John Beck completed 30-of-47 passes for 254 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the Redskins (3-5), who have lost four in a row.

"I felt like when I stepped on the field today we were going to win," said Beck. "I feel like this team believes that we were going to win, so to come off the field not having won is not good."

Roy Helu caught 14 passes for 105 yards, adding 41 yards on 10 carries. Jabar Gaffney had a nine-yard touchdown reception.

The Redskins continued to struggle offensively.

They were blanked 23-0 by the Bills last Sunday, marking the first-ever shutout in coach Mike Shanahan's career.

Against San Francisco, the shutout reached five consecutive quarters following a scoreless first.

Beck was intercepted by Dashon Goldson at the end of the quarter and the 49ers converted the turnover into Akers' 52-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead.

Akers added a 34-yarder late in the second and Helu fumbled in his own territory on the Redskins' next possession.

Again the 49ers capitalized, as Smith hit Bruce Miller on a wheel route for a 30-yard score. It was Miller's first career touchdown.

"Miller did a heck of a job," said Harbaugh. "The ball was thrown up to him, he just ran under it, caught it and put it in the end zone."

It took a Redskins franchise record to avoid six consecutive scoreless quarters, and Graham Gano hit a 59-yard field goal -- the longest in franchise history -- to make it a 13-3 game at the end of the half.

"Collectively, we have to get better on offense," said Shanahan. "That's obvious."

Akers added a 45-yarder in the third and a 20-yarder in the fourth.

The Redskins, meanwhile, continued to struggle, managing 170 yards of second- half offense.

During the fourth quarter, they turned the ball over on downs twice and lost a fumble.

With 1:10 remaining, Gaffney's touchdown grab capped a 72-yard drive. A successful two-point conversion made it 19-11, but San Francisco tight end Vernon Davis recovered the ensuing onsides kick, allowing the NFC West-leading 49ers to run out the clock.
