Owings Mills, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Ravens signed veteran linebacker Daryl Smith to a one-year contract on Wednesday.
Smith, 31, played in just two games for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. He was inactive for the first six games due to a groin injury before being placed on the injured reserve-designated for return list on October 25. He made his return in Week 16 against the New England Patriots.
Prior to the injury, he had missed just four games over nine seasons, all with Jacksonville.
Over his career, Smith has 678 tackles, 21 1/2 sacks, nine forced fumbles and six interceptions while starting 122 of his 124 career games played. He was a second-round pick of the Jaguars in the 2004 NFL Draft.
In addition, the Ravens have released outside linebacker Michael McAdoo. A 2011 supplemental draft pick of Baltimore, he missed the entire 2012 season due to a torn Achilles tendon.
