Description: Los Angeles center Dwight Howard won't require surgery on his injured shoulder this offseason. SOURCE: Lakers on Twitter
Insight: Howard played better down the stretch but it was still a disappointing season for the 27-year-old. Howard's free agency should be one of the biggest storylines of the offseason.

4/28/2013 9:28:00 PM
Description: Lakers center Dwight Howard was ejected from Sunday's Game 4 against the Spurs in the third quarter after picking up his second technical. San Antonio beat the Lakers by 21 points to sweep the series.
Insight: It's a fitting end to a nightmare season in Los Angeles. Howard will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Description: Lakers center Dwight Howard acknowledged that his right shoulder is still bothering him. SOURCE: Los Angeles Daily News
Insight: He sure isn't playing like it. In two playoff games, Howard has averaged 18.0 ppg, 12.0 rpg and 3.0 bpg. With Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash out, Howard and Pau Gasol are going to need to step up big for the purple and gold.

4/21/2013 6:21:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles center Dwight Howard shot a crisp 8-of-12 from the field and finished with 20 points Sunday in a series opening loss to the Spurs.
Insight: Howard, always a force on the glass, also came down with 15 rebounds. As usual, it was an adventure at the free throw line (4-of-8) but overall, Howard did everything he could to keep the Lakers competitive Sunday against a well-rested San Antonio squad. Game 2 is on Wednesday night.

4/18/2013 11:35:00 AM
Description: Lakers big man Dwight Howard led the NBA in rebounding this season (12.4 rpg).
Insight: It's the fifth time Howard has been able to accomplish this. Howard's 12.4 rpg average this season was his lowest since 2006-07 (12.3 rpg). The last time a player led the league in rebounding without averaging at least 13 per game was also in 2006-07. Minnesota's Kevin Garnett led the league in boards that season (12.8 rpg).

4/18/2013 9:29:00 AM
Description: L.A. center Dwight Howard came through with a big effort Wednesday night against the Rockets (16 points, 18 rebounds, four blocks).
Insight: Most of those blocks came during the extra period including one particularly memorable swat on James Harden with less than a minute to go. Howard (17.1 ppg, 12.4 rpg) played smothering defense all night for the Lakers, who have now won eight of their last nine games. D12 will be a difficult assignment for Tim Duncan in the low post during the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Hot3/31/2013 9:52:00 AM
Description: Lakers center Dwight Howard registered 24 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots Saturday against Sacramento.
Insight: Who cares if Howard is shooting 44 percent from the free throw line in his last five games? Over that span, he's averaged a Wilt Chamberlain-like 15.2 rpg. Howard has also been a force on defense, swatting away an average of three blocks per game.

3/28/2013 10:33:00 PM
Description: Dwight Howard dominated the glass Thursday against Milwaukee but his poor free throw shooting hurt the Lakers down the stretch as the Bucks pulled off a ten-point victory.
Insight: He corralled 15 boards in the loss. Howard (15 points) is shooting a miserable 39.3 percent from the free throw line over his last three contests (13-of-33).

3/28/2013 4:49:00 PM
Description: Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni told Kevin Ding from the Orange Country Register that he won't bench Dwight Howard late in games despite his poor free throw shooting.
Insight: Many teams have gone to the hack-a-Shaq method against Howard, including the Timberwolves on Wednesday night (7-for-17 from the line). Howard's 49 percent success rate from the charity stripe in 2012-13 is his lowest in nine NBA seasons.

3/27/2013 10:38:00 PM
Description: Lakers center Dwight Howard delivered a vintage performance Wednesday night against Minnesota.
Insight: In 34 minutes, D-12 registered 25 points, 16 rebounds, five blocks and five steals. In typical Howard fashion, he was a disaster from the free throw line (7-of-17) but his dominance in all other areas should have been more than enough to satisfy fantasy owners.

Hot3/20/2013 5:21:00 PM
Description: Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni thinks center Dwight Howard is back to full strength. "We're at the point now where I think with Dwight being 100 (percent)," D'Antoni said. SOURCE: Dave McMenamin, ESPN
Insight: Howard has been dealing with a shoulder injury in addition to recovering from offseason back surgery, and he has admitted that his conditioning has been lacking at times. The center is averaging 16.8 points, 14.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 2.7 blocks over his last 15 games.

Hot3/12/2013 9:49:00 PM
Description: Lakers center Dwight Howard returned to Orlando as a visiting player for the first time Tuesday and scored 39 points on 7-of-13 shooting with 16 rebounds and three blocks.
Insight: The Magic tried to play hack-a-Howard with its old star but it didn't work as Howard made 25-of-39 from the free-throw line in a 106-97 win. Howard is averaging 24.8 points, 16 rebounds and 4.0 blocks over the last four games and has grabbed double-digit rebounds in 11 straight games with an average of 14.9 in that span.

Hot3/10/2013 10:33:00 PM
Description: Dwight Howard's resurgence continued Sunday in a win over Chicago. In 39 minutes, the Lakers center racked up 16 points, 21 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Insight: Howard is back from the dead and so are the Lakers. During the team's three-game win streak, Howard has averaged 20 ppg, 16.3 rpg and 4.3 bpg on 26-of-45 shooting (57.8 percent).

3/6/2013 10:54:00 PM
Description: Lakers big man Dwight Howard broke out of his recent slump by notching 20 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks Wednesday in a win over New Orleans.
Insight: Howard has looked lethargic all season so nights like this have become a rarity. We still don't think Los Angeles is a great fit for Howard but he really hasn't given fantasy owners too much to complain about (league-leading 12.1 rpg).

3/6/2013 10:28:00 AM
Description: Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard is probable for Wednesday's game against New Orleans, though a collision with Metta World Peace in Tuesday's game aggravated his sore shoulder.
Insight: Howard hasn't scored 20 points or more in five games, but is still the same strong rebounder with six consecutive games of at least 12 boards.

2/24/2013 3:41:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles center Dwight Howard has blamed his up and down season on poor conditioning and says that he's "not even close" to where he was before he had back surgery.
Insight: It's pretty evident that Howard hasn't been at his best this season (his 16.4 ppg scoring average is his lowest since 2005-06) and it's possible the Lakers rushed him back from surgery a bit too quickly. The eight-time All-Star was active on the boards Sunday against Dallas (13 rebounds) but was only able to convert two of his seven field goal attempts (finished with nine points).

2/17/2013 2:52:00 PM
Description: Lakers center Dwight Howard led the NBA in rebounding during the first half (11.8 rpg).
Insight: Howard also led the league in rebounding during the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season (14.5 rpg). Howard has had a difficult time adjusting to the spotlight in Los Angeles and his injured shoulder will probably require surgery in the offseason. Despite the obstacles he's had to overcome, Howard is still having a solid fantasy season (16.3 ppg, 11.8 rpg, 2.3 bpg). Howard will compete in his seventh consecutive All-Star Game later this evening at the Toyota Center in Houston.

2/16/2013 4:04:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles general manager Mitch Kupchak has shot down rumors that the Lakers are looking to trade center Dwight Howard for Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: The Celtics and Lakers talked about a Pau Gasol for Rondo trade about a year ago but obviously it never materialized. We doubt this proposal would either, especially now that both players are injured (Howard has been playing through shoulder pain while Rondo is out for the season with a torn ACL).

2/7/2013 10:49:00 PM
Description: Lakers center Dwight Howard (shoulder) started Thursday against the Celtics but only scored nine points with nine boards and four turnovers in 28 minutes.
Insight: Howard will likely keep playing through the pain but the shoulder injury is clearly hindering him on both ends of the floor. All fantasy owners can do is wait and hope he gets some rest over the All-Star break next weekend.

2/7/2013 6:56:00 PM
Description: Lakers center Dwight Howard (shoulder) plans to play versus Boston on Thursday. SOURCE: Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports
Insight: Howard's injured shoulder isn't going to be 100 percent anytime soon, so he'll only be able to play if the pain isn't too severe. The injury will probably limit him going forward but fantasy owners should still get him in the lineup.
