NOTES:
The Pocono 400 at Pocono Raceway is the 14th race on the 2014 Sprint Cup Series schedule.

Opened in 1968 as a three-quarter-mile racetrack, Pocono Raceway held the first race on its 2.5-mile triangle-shaped track in 1971. The track was repaved during the fall of 2011.

Pocono has 14 degrees of banking in turn 1, 8 degrees in turn 2 and 6 degrees in turn 3. The length of the shortstretch is 1,780 feet, and the backstretch is 3,055 feet. The frontstretch measures 3,740 feet.

There have been 72 races in NASCAR's premier series held at Pocono. The track hosted one event each season from 1974-81 and then two per year since then. Sprint Cup returns to this track on the first weekend in August.

Richard Petty won the inaugural Cup race at Pocono, the Purolator 500, on August 4, 1974.

Ricky Rudd holds the track record for most starts at Pocono with 55. Jeff Gordon's 42 starts is tops among those drivers entered for this weekend's race.

Gordon holds the record for most victories at Pocono with six. His most recent win there came in August 2012.

Rick Hendrick has the most car owner wins at Pocono with 15, followed by Joe Gibbs and Roger Penske with nine each. Jimmie Johnson (June race) and Kasey Kahne (August event) gave Hendrick Motorsports a season-sweep at this track last year.

Bill Elliott and Ken Schrader share the record for most pole wins at Pocono with five each.

The race winner at Pocono has started from the pole 15 times, which is more than any other starting position there. Johnson most recently did it one year ago.

Since NASCAR began using electronic timing and scoring in 1993, the closest margin of victory in a Cup race at Pocono occurred on July 23, 2000 when Rusty Wallace beat Jeff Burton to the finish line by just 0.126 seconds.

The furthest back a driver has started and won a Cup race at Dover is 29th, accomplished by Carl Edwards in June 2005.

Denny Hamlin is the only active driver who scored his first career Cup victory at Pocono. Hamlin won at this track on June 11, 2006. He followed up with another victory there six weeks later.

Casey Mears is the only active driver who claimed his maiden pole in the series at Pocono (Aug. 1, 2004).

No driver on the entry list for this race made his or her Cup debut at Pocono.

Joey Logano holds the record as the youngest driver to win a race at Pocono. He took the checkered flag there on June 10, 2012 when he was 22 years and 17 days old. When Harry Gant was 50 years, 5 months and 7 days old, he became the oldest driver to win at this track on June 17, 1990.

The next race is the June 15 Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Greg Biffle won last year's event there.
