Description: Toronto right-hander Casey Janssen will begin the year as the Blue Jays closer, according to manager John Gibbons. Janssen saved 22 games with a 2.54 ERA and 0.864 WHIP in 62 appearances last season.
Insight: This is not unexpected news, just confirmation that Janssen, and not Sergio Santos, has the ninth inning job. Santos missed most of the 2012 season with a shoulder injury that required surgery after saving 30 ball games in 2011. If Santos is healthy it will give the Blue Jays a 1-2 punch in the bullpen.

Description: Casey Janssen picked up his second save of the season on Saturday.

Description: Francisco Cordero is out, and Casey Janssen is in as Toronto's closer while Sergio Santos rehabs. Cordero blew his third save of the season on Tuesday night.
Insight: A few days after Kenley Jansen was promoted to closer in Los Angeles, similarly named Casey Janssen takes over the job in Toronto. Janssen hasn't exactly been a shutdown reliever this season, giving up six runs in 10 1/3 innings. However, Santos is still a couple of weeks away from returning, so give Janssen the nod if you need saves.
