Description: The Tigers added a bullpen arm on Thursday by signing righthander Joba Chamberlain to a one-year, $2.5 million contract. SOURCE: Buster Olney, ESPN
Insight: Once considered a top prospect, Chamberlain has never lived up to the hype, generating just 23 wins across seven seasons in the Bronx. Leaving New York might clear his head a bit but it won't help his fantasy value.

Insight: Chamberlain has never lived up to the hype and it might finally be time for the Yankees to cut their losses and give Joba a change of scenery. He's really struggled this season, collecting a 5.75 ERA in 21 appearances out of the bullpen. Chamberlain can be ignored in all fantasy leagues.
5/2/2013 4:27:00 PM
Description: The Yankees have placed Joba Chamberlain on the DL with a strained oblique.
Insight: The Yankees disabled list is awfully crowded. Chamberlain has a 3.86 ERA, but he has walked six batters and allowed 10 hits while striking out seven in 9 1/3 innings and has no fantasy value.
1/17/2013 8:33:00 PM
Description: The Yankees avoided arbitration by signing Joba Chamberlain to a new one-year, $1.875 million deal.
Insight: Chamberlain only made 22 appearances last season because of an ankle injury. He's just a run of the mill middle reliever and shouldn't be owned in fantasy.
8/1/2012 9:47:00 PM
Description: Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain looked shaky in his first appearance of the season Wednesday versus the Orioles. He gave up two runs on four hits during the 28-pitch outing.
Insight: At least it's a start. Chamberlain's role in the New York bullpen should increase as he continues to get stronger and more confident after missing the entire first half with an injured ankle (he was also coming off of Tommy John surgery). Even at his best, Chamberlain (10.80 ERA) still won't be worth owning in fantasy.
7/31/2012 7:14:00 PM
Description: Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain has been activated from the 60-day disabled list. Chamberlain had Tommy John surgery last season and then broke his ankle in a trampoline accident in March.
Insight: Chamberlain hasn't been with the team for 14 months, but he has reportedly been hitting 95-plus mph on the radar gun with his fastball during his minor league rehab appearances. He won't have much fantasy value at first, but he could be an interesting option if he recaptures his magic from 2007.
7/10/2012 6:42:00 PM
Description: Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain reportedly hit 97 mph with his fastball in his first rehab appearance with the Gulf Coast League Yankees Tuesday, according to the New York Post.
Insight: Chamberlain suffered what some doctors deemed a career-threatening ankle injury less than four months ago and also had Tommy John surgery last year. He may be able to rejoin the team in a few weeks, which is pretty remarkable. It would be more remarkable if he ends up having any fantasy value this season, however.
3/25/2012 7:37:00 PM
Description: Joba Chamberlain has been released from the hospital following ankle surgery. Chamberlain will wear a cast on his foot for the next six weeks. He is not expected to pitch for the Yankees this season.
Insight: Chamberlain wasn't even fully recovered from his recent Tommy John surgery when he dislocated his ankle jumping on a trampoline with his son on Thursday. The Yankees will find a way to make do without Chamberlain this season and so should you.
3/23/2012 11:40:00 AM
Description: New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain suffered a dislocated right ankle on Thursday and is sidelined indefinitely.
Insight: Chamberlain was on pace for a June return from Tommy John surgery, but this throws a huge monkey wrench into the plans. At this point, you shouldn't expect Chamberlain to help your fantasy team in 2012.
3/31/2011 4:41:00 PM
Description: Yankees RP Joba Chamberlain pitched a scoreless 7th inning, striking out 1, to vulture the win in New York's 6-3 victory over Detroit.
Insight: Chamberlain did not allow a base runner and has had solid velocity to start the spring; he could be in line for more of these cheap wins and could be an intriguing play in deeper mixed leagues.
3/23/2011 10:13:00 AM
Description: Yankees RP Joba Chamberlain has been recorded as high as 96 MPH on the radar gun, raising hopes that the "old" Joba has returned.
SOURCE: New York Daily News
Insight: The Yankees starters are still iffy heading into 2011 and Chamberlain, as the 5th or 6th inning guy, could vulture a good chunk of wins this year.
3/16/2011 11:18:00 AM
Description: An MRI showed that Yankees RP Joba Chamberlain has an injured oblique and there is no timetable for when he will resume throwing.
SOURCE: New York Post
Insight: As a 6th inning guy, Chamberlain only has value in the deepest of deep leagues.
3/8/2011 10:55:00 AM
Description: Yankees RP Joba Chamberlain has been solid in three of his four spring outings and rebounded yesterday against the Phillies, after his recent poor outing in Saturday.
SOURCE: New York Daily News
Insight: Chamberlain's solid spring actually helps the Yankees, as they could include him in a deal for a starting pitcher. Right now, Chamberlain's only value lies in AL-only leagues.
2/14/2011 10:46:00 AM
Description: While he is slated to be in the Yankees' bullpen on Opening Day, Joba Chamberlain could be sent to the minors if he does not produce.
SOURCE: New York Post
Insight: Chamberlain has lost that dominance that made him fantasy relevant, even as a middle reliever. He won't get any save chances and onlyl has value in deep AL-only leagues.
1/27/2011 6:28:00 AM
Description: The Yankees don't believe that Joba Chamberlain is the same pitcher since getting injured in 2008.
Insight: Don't draft Joba in anything other than deep AL-Only leagues this year. He'll get a few K's but not much else.
1/15/2011 7:10:00 AM
Description: The Yankees could consider trading Joba Chamberlain if they can add a starter.
SOURCE: JON HEYMAN
Insight: Unless another team wants to work on a long-term project to turn Chamberlain back into a starter or if someone thinks they can groom him to be a closer then this would be a trade that makes sense. Most likely, he will be working the 7th inning in New York.
11/17/2010 4:08:00 PM
Description: "Joba (Chamberlain) to the pen," GM Brian Cashman said Tuesday. "We made that decision after spring training. We're not looking to put it back. We told him in the spring, 'You're a reliever now.' That's it. He's a reliever, that's our attitude."
SOURCE: NY Daily News
Insight: Now that Joba knows his role perhaps he can be more consistent in 2011.
10/25/2010 5:54:00 PM
Description: The Yankees will use Joba Chamberlain as a reliever again next season.
SOURCE: MARK FEINSAND ON TWITTER
Insight: The way he pitched last year, Chamberlain has no value in mixed leagues for the start of 2011.
5/5/2010 8:26:00 AM
Description: Chamberlain recorded his second save of the season on Tuesday against the Orioles.
Insight: With Mariano Rivera day-to-day with a stiff left side, Chamberlain has recorded saves in back-to-back games. (SportsBuff.com)
4/5/2010 8:26:00 AM
Description: Chamberlain made his season debut out of the bullpen in the eighth inning for the Yankees on Sunday night.
Insight: Chamberlain allowed a run on two hits in 1.1 innings. He walked one and did not strike out a batter. (SportsBuff.com)
