Description: Free agent starting pitcher Carl Pavano says the snow-shoveling accident that he was involved with this winter nearly cost him his life.
Insight: Pavano reportedly lost six and a half liters of blood and was "hours away from going into cardiac arrest." Fortunately, Pavano is now out of the hospital and expected to make a full recovery. He went 2-5 with a 6.00 ERA in 11 starts for the Twins in 2012.

Description: Righthander Carl Pavano will miss 6-to-8 weeks after rupturing his spleen in a snow shoveling accident.
Insight: Pavano was oddly effective for the Twins in 2010 (17-11, 3.75 ERA) but has since regressed by posting an 11-18 record and a 4.67 ERA over the last two seasons. The 37-year-old is still a free agent and this news probably won't make his search for a new team any easier.

Description: Minnesota starter Carl Pavano has been moved to the disabled list. He's dealing with an anterior capsular strain in his right shoulder.
Insight: Pavano (2-5, 6.00 ERA) didn't get off to a good start this year and now we know part of the reason why. This move by the Twins is retroactive to June 2nd.
6/3/2012 3:19:00 PM
Description: Twins manager Ron Gardenhire expects Carl Pavano to go on the disabled list because of a bad shoulder. Pavano has been dealing with shoulder soreness all season and was taken back to Minnesota for an MRI after getting crushed in his start Friday against the Indians.
Insight: Pavano has given up six earned runs in back-to-back starts and just doesn't look like himself right now. In 11 starts in 2012, he's just 2-5 with an ERA of 6.00. Last season Pavano finished the year with a 4.30 ERA in 33 starts.

Description: Twins starting pitcher Carl Pavano will undergo a precautionary MRI on his shoulder.
Insight: With a 5.02 ERA and 1.30 WHIP Pavano is not on many fantasy radar screens, but he is only a couple of years removed from a 17-11, 3.75 ERA, 1.19 WHIP season.
5/1/2011 6:11:00 PM
Description: Twins SP Carl Pavano lasted just 5 1/3 innings against the Royals, allowing 7 runs on 12 hits.
Insight: With a 5.84 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and just 17 K's in 37 innings, Pavano has been a disappointment this season. There is no reason to keep him on your roster while he is pitching this poorly.

Description: Twins SP Carl Pavano lasted just 4 2/3 innings against the Orioles, giving up 8 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks; he struck out 3.
Insight: Pavano was excellent in starts 2 and 3 this year, but brutal in starts 1 and 4. Because of this inconsistency he is best left for AL-only leagues.

Description: Twins SP Carl Pavano beat the A's, allowing 1 run in 8 innings of work; he gave up 4 hits and a walk while striking out 1.

Description: Carl Pavano allowed eight runs (seven earned) in four-plus innings in Toronto last night. Three homers did most of the damage.
Insight: Pavano's defense didn't help him out much in the first inning. He got it back together for a couple frames before struggling with the long ball in the fourth and fifth. He has always struggled when pitching against Toronto. Keep him on the bench next week when he goes to Yankee Stadium but don't drop him.

Description: Carl Pavano will be the opening day starter for the Twins.
SOURCE: Jon Heymen on TWITTER
Insight: Pavano should be considered a late round pick. His lack of strikeouts, coupled with last year's 2nd half ERA and WHIP drop off doesn't bode well for the Ground-baller.

Description: Carl Pavano and the Twins could take until Wednesday to finalize a contract.

Insight: Pavano is close to 100% to go back to Minnesota, which is good for his fantasy value since he really hit his stride there last year. His low strikeout rate prevents him from being anything more than a rotation filler.

Description: Carl Pavano is close to a two year deal that will keep him with the Twins.
SOURCE: KEN ROSENTHAL
Insight: He wanted a three-year deal but couldn't find one. The Twins could really use Pavano right now. He logs a lot of innings and their bullpen was depleted this off-season. His low strikeout rate will make him a low-end mixed league option and solid AL-Only starter.
