Description: Minnesota's Brian Duensing has been replaced in the starting rotation by Nick Blackburn.
Insight: Duensing (1-6, 5.06 ERA) will head back to the Twins' bullpen while Blackburn (4-5, 8.10 ERA) will get the start Friday versus Kansas City. Duensing went 0-4 with a 10.13 ERA while in the rotation compared to 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA in 30 games as a reliever earlier in the season, so this moves makes a lot of sense for Minnesota.

Description: Twins pitcher Brian Duensing will start Saturday's game against the Reds.
Insight: Duensing is 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 30 relief appearances this season. Though he went 9-14 with a 5.23 ERA in 32 appearances (28 starts) last year, he was 7-2 with a 3.05 ERA in 13 starts for Minnesota in 2010. He's worth a flier in AL-only leagues.
3/21/2011 5:38:00 PM
Description: The Twins moved RHP Brian Duensing out of the bullpen last last year into a starter role and he has been very effective since. He went 5 IP and only allowed three hits and no earned runs.
Insight: Duensing might be a great candidate for a late round flier although he doesn't seem like he'll be racking up too many k's.
3/2/2011 8:45:00 PM
Description: Brian Duensing worked two scoreless innings today.
Insight: The big news for Duensing is that earlier in the day Ron Gardenhire said that he would have a spot in their rotation. That leaves one spot for Kevin Slowey (likely) or Nick Blackburn (unlikely).
10/10/2010 6:40:00 AM
Description: Brian Duensing, making his first postseason start, gave up five runs over 3 1/3 innings last night.
Insight: He was a good story during the regular season and has already secured a spot in the Twins' 2011 rotation. But, we are talking about a solid pitcher here, not a great one. Don't be fooled by his ERA - his four months in the bullpen helped to lower it.
9/9/2010 9:29:00 AM
Description: Twins SP Brian Duensing allowed just one run in 8 innings, outpitching Royals' ace Zack Greinke, to pick up the win yesterday. Duensing gave up 6 hits and struck out 7.
Insight: Duensing improved to 8-2 on the year and is worth using in all formats while he is pitching so well.
9/3/2010 4:45:00 AM
Description: The Twins dipped into their rotation in an extra innings game last night, using Brian Duensing for two innings.
Insight: He was scheduled to start on Sunday but that seems unlikely now. Look for him to make his next start early next week instead.
8/8/2010 3:25:00 PM
Description: Brian Duensing improved to 5-1 by allowing four runs (three earned) in 7 1/3 innings against Cleveland.
Insight: The Twins are playing well and Duensing hasn't given up more than three earned runs since joining their rotation. He is useful in deeper mixed leagues but doesn't strike out enough batters to help in shallow leagues.
7/28/2010 6:20:00 PM
Description: Brian Duensing held the Royals to two runs over six innings in a win today.
Insight: He has been solid in two starts after pitching effectively in the bullpen. He isn't dominant but is good enough to be owned in deeper leagues. He will represent a tough call next week - he is a two-start pitcher but is on the road at Tampa Bay and Cleveland.
7/23/2010 9:47:00 PM
Description: Brian Duensing gave up one run over five innings in Baltimore tonight.
Insight: He took over Nick Blackburn's spot in the rotation. With a sub-2.00 ERA from the bullpen this year he is certainly worth watching in deeper mixed leagues.
7/19/2010 6:44:00 AM
Description: Brian Duensing came out of the bullpen to throw four innings yesterday. He allowed one run and gave the Twins time to come back and win the game in the ninth inning.
Insight: Sleeper alert for deeper leagues - Duensing has a 1.67 ERA and is pitching better than several Twins starters. He threw 48 pitches yesterday so it wouldn't take much stretching out to get him ready for the rotation.
