Description: Outfielder Kosuke Fukudome, who was released by the Chicago White Sox a couple of weeks ago, has signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees.
Insight: Barring massive injuries to the Yankees outfield, Fukudome (.171, 0 HRs, 4 RBIs) shouldn't have any fantasy value.
6/26/2012 4:56:00 PM
Description: Outfielder Kosuke Fukudome has been released by the White Sox after failing to draw any interest on waivers. Fukudome was designated for assignment on Friday.
Insight: Fukudome has been Mr. April in his career, batting .327 with nine homers and 43 RBIs in 99 games in that month while batting .257 in the other five months combined. He hit .171 with one extra-base hit in limited duty with the White Sox this season, so even if he latches on with another club it's doubtful he'll have any fantasy value this season, even in the deepest AL- or NL-only leagues.

Description: Chicago outfielder Kosuke Fukudome has been placed on the 15-day DL because of back issues.
Insight: Fukudome (.171, 0 HRs, 4 RBIs) has only been in the batter's box for 41 at bats this season so even when he's been healthy, Fukudome is not getting on the field enough to be a realistic fantasy option.

Insight: Fukudome would be great help to the Indians who are without Grady Sizemore and Shin-Soo Choo. However, his lack of power may make him a lower AL-only option.

Description: Kosuke Fukudome is not in Thursday's starting lineup against the Cardinals. SOURCE:
Insight: Fukudome is not consistent enough to be considered in fantasy. However, he is starting to hit well which well make him valuable in deeper mixed leagues at worst.
4/26/2011 8:54:00 AM
Description: Fukudome picked up 5 hits on Monday to raise his batting average to .478 in limited playing time.
Insight: Kosuke is 33 years old and a career .266 hitter so you shouldn't run out and add him but the Cubs should be getting him some more PT. I would take note if you own Colvin or Pena in an NL only league as their at bats should take a dip.
4/23/2011 7:24:00 AM
Description: Cubs OF Kosuke Fukudome went 3-4 against the Dodgers, raising his season average to .417.
Insight: While the average is impressive, take a deeper look at his hits. Of his 15 hits, all of them are singles. He offers minimal power and his batting average should settle in the .260's, where he hits for his career. If there is a Cubs fan who might be a believer in your league, trade him to him now.

Description: The Cubs are leaning towards batting Kosuke Fukudome at the top of the order. SOURCE: MLBLOGS
Insight: We expect Tyler Colvin to take a lot of Fukudome's playing time this year but if he gives the team a spark at the top of the order then he could play more than most people expect.
9/23/2010 1:01:00 AM
Description: Fukudome went 1-for-2 with a home run and a walk against the Giants on Wednesday night.
Insight: Fukudome is hitting .274 with 13 home runs and 41 RBI this season. (

Description: Fukudome went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a stolen base against the Pirates on Wednesday.

9/1/2010 4:44:00 PM
Description: Kosuke Fukudome went 3-3 and stole a base in a win over the Pirates today.
Insight: He doesn't play everyday but he has hit well since the All-Star break and he shouldn't be ignored by owners in deeper leagues.
7/26/2010 4:57:00 PM
Description: Fox's Ken Rosenthal reports, via Twitter, that the Cubs are willing to eat some of Fukudome's remaining salary in a trade.
Insight: Fukudome is owed $4 million this season and $13.5 in 2011, so the Cubs would basically have to pay some of that to facilitate a trade. But since he is hitting just .253 in 229 at-bats this season, there aren't likely to be many suitors. (
7/7/2010 10:36:00 AM
Description: Fukudome went 1-for-5 with a home run against Arizona on Tuesday night.
Insight: Fukudome has now homered in back-to-back game in Arizona, and is hitting .266 with eight home runs and 26 RBI this season. (
7/5/2010 8:36:00 PM
Description: Fukudome went 2-for-3 with a home run and two walks on Monday against Arizona.
Insight: Fukudome is hitting .267 with seven home runs and 25 RBI this season. The Cubs would probably like to trade him, but given how much money he makes they may be stuck with him. (
6/17/2010 4:10:00 PM
Description:'s Sean McAdam reports the Cubs recently approached the Red Sox to "gauge their interest" in Fukudome.
Insight: Boston needs outfield help, but they are reportedly hesitant to take on Fukudome's remaining salary without the Cubs paying a significant portion of it ($13 million this season, $13.5 for 2011). Due to the kind of money he is owed, the Cubs will have a hard time unloading Fukudome. (
6/15/2010 3:12:00 PM
Description: Ken Rosenthal of Fox reports the Cubs have made Fukudome available for trade.
Insight: Fukudome's contract-he is due $13 million this season, followed by $13.5 million in 201-may stand in the way of a trade. He also has a no-trade clause, which allows him to block a deal to 15 out of 30 teams. In any case, he stands to lose playing time to rookie Tyler Colvin if he stays in Chicago. (
5/21/2010 9:30:00 AM
Description: Fukudome went 1-for-4 with a home run against Philadelphia on Thursday.
Insight: Fukudome is hitting .310 with six home runs and 21 RBI this season, and is a solid NL-only league option. (
5/14/2010 1:07:00 PM
Description: Carrie Muskrat of reports Fukudome is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Pirates.
Insight: The Cubs face left-handed starters on both Friday and Saturday, so Fukudome may sit both games in favor of Xavier Nady. (
5/12/2010 10:19:00 AM
Description: Fukudome went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored against Florida on Tuesday night.
Insight: Fukudome is hitting .326 this season, and could be a nice option in NL-only leagues while he is hitting above .300. (
4/29/2010 8:12:00 PM
Description: Fukudome hit his first major league grand slam on Thursday against Arizona.
Insight: Fukudome now has four home runs and 15 RBI so far this season, but fantasy owners should wait and see if he keeps that kind of production up before buying in to him. (
