Description: Skip Schumaker will be a member of the Cincinnati Reds as soon as he passes his physical. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: The sides agreed on a two-year, $5 million contract earlier today. Schumaker hit .263 as a part-time player for the Dodgers last season.

Description: Dodgers utility man Skip Schumaker has been suspended for two games for his actions during Tuesday night's brawl with Arizona.
Insight: Schumaker hasn't performed at a high enough level for this to effect any fantasy lineups. He's batting .268 with zero homers, 12 RBI and 15 runs scored in 56 games.
6/6/2013 11:45:00 AM
Description: Dodgers utility man Skip Schumaker has been brutal against Atlanta righthander Tim Hudson.
Insight: He carries a pathetic .133 average in 15 encounters with Hudson. Injuries have opened up more playing time for Schumaker (.261, 0 HR, 10 RBI) but he's still not a player you'd want to own in fantasy.
12/12/2012 8:21:00 PM
Description: The Cardinals have traded second baseman Skip Schumaker to the Dodgers for shortstop Jake Lemmerman.
Insight: It's unclear whether or not Schumaker (.276, 1 HR, 28 RBI) will open the season as L.A.'s everyday second baseman with Mark Ellis still under contract. If we had to guess, this looks like a platoon scenario. If that's the case, neither player will be able to help you in fantasy next season.
11/5/2012 11:20:00 AM
Description: Fox's Ken Rosenthal suspects that the Cardinals will try to trade infielder Skip Schumaker this winter.
Insight: Schumaker was horrendous during the playoffs (0-for-9 at the plate with three strikeouts) and at age 32, St. Louis would prefer to use Daniel Descalso at second base while he's still in his prime. He's never hit more than eight home runs in a season so Schumaker doesn't present any immediate fantasy value heading into 2013.
8/7/2012 10:38:00 AM
Description: Cardinals second baseman/outfielder Skip Schumaker is a .583 hitter (7-for-12) against Giants starter Barry Zito.
Insight: Some fantasy owners might shy away from using Schumaker (.321) because of his lack of power (no homers in 165 at bats this season) but he does have a respectable .835 OPS.
7/20/2012 11:05:00 AM
Description: Cardinals second baseman/outfielder Skip Schumaker is a .431 hitter (22-for-51) against Cubs starter Ryan Dempster.
Insight: Some fantasy owners might shy away from using Schumaker (.318) because of his lack of power (no homers in 129 at bats this season) but if you want a guy who can give you pure average, look no further.
6/29/2012 2:45:00 PM
Description: Starting Cardinals second baseman/outfielder Skip Schumaker against Pittsburgh starter Kevin Correia on Friday looks like a smart idea. Schumaker is batting .438 in 16 at bats versus the Pirates righthander.
Insight: Some fantasy owners might shy away from using Schumaker (.300) because of his lack of power (no homers in 100 at bats this season) but if you want a guy who can give you pure average, look no further.
6/19/2012 2:56:00 PM
Description: St. Louis Cardinals second baseman/outfielder Skip Schumaker has been activated the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Schumaker (.321, 0 HRs, 12 RBIs) has a nice batting average, but little else to contribute to your fantasy team.
6/1/2012 2:26:00 PM
Description: Cardinals second baseman/outfielder Skip Schumaker has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
Insight: Schumaker (.321, 0 HRs, 12 RBIs) has a nice batting average, but little else to contribute to your fantasy team. If you were using Schumaker in the outfield, claim the better producing and just off the disabled list Allen Craig.
5/30/2012 10:01:00 PM
Description: Skip Schumaker exited Wednesday night's game in the seventh inning with some right hamstring tightness.
Insight: Schumaker (.321, 0 HRs, 12 RBIs) is day-to-day but if he does have to miss a few games, Allen Craig (returning from the DL on Friday) could see some action in right field while Schumaker is out.
5/19/2012 9:53:00 AM
Description: Cardinals 2B/OF Skip Schumaker should not be started on Saturday. In seven career at-bats against Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, Schumacker has yet to collect a hit and has struck out six times.
Insight: Schumaker is a useful utility guy who can play outfield or infield with a .314 batting average, but today is not likely to be pretty. Sit him.
4/20/2012 8:31:00 PM
Description: In his first start of the season, Skip Schumaker had to leave the game after crashing into the centerfield wall.
Insight: Schumaker had the wind knocked out of him so this is not considered a serious injury. The Cardinals outfielder still hasn't made a plate appearance in 2012.
9/10/2010 10:04:00 AM

7/5/2010 10:43:00 AM
Description: The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports Schumaker (finger) jammed his finger on Thursday while taking pre-game infield, but is still "playable."
Insight: Schumaker has a swollen finger on his right hand, but since he can still grip a bat the injury does not appear serious. (SportsBuff.com)
5/12/2010 10:56:00 AM
Description: The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports Cardinals' manager Tony LaRussa said Schumaker's drop from the leadoff spot on Tuesday night will not be a permananent move.
Insight: Schumaker is hitting just .218 so far this season, but if he can get going soon he could become a solid source for runs scored atop the Cardinals' lineup. (SportsBuff.com)
4/22/2010 10:02:00 AM
Description: Schumaker went 2-for-5 with a double and his first home run of the season against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.
Insight: If Schumaker can be get on base hitting leadoff for the Cardinals, he should have the opportunity to score runs. (SportsBuff.com)
2/9/2010 8:44:00 AM
Description: MLB.com reports that the Cardinals have signed Schumaker to a two-year, $4.7 million contract.
Insight: Schumaker will be the starting second baseman for the Cardinals this season. He hit .303 with four home runs and 35 RBI last season. (SportsBuff.com)
