Description: Twins right-hander Mike Pelfrey (right elbow) had surgery to relieve pressure on the ulnar nerve in his right elbow, according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Insight: Pelfrey will miss the next two-to-four months. He has a 4.56 ERA and a 5.2 K/9 in his career and a 7.99 ERA this season, so he's not a fantasy option anyway.

Insight: Uh oh. A visit to MLB's equivalent of "He Who Shall Not Be Named" is never a good thing for pitchers. After initally landing on the DL with a groin strain, Pelfrey then reported having elbow issues. Regardless of how the visit goes, Big Pelf was never much of a fantasy option anyway, posting a 7.99 ERA in five starts.

Description: Twins right-hander Mike Pelfrey (strained groin) halted his rehab assignment and returned to Minnesota.
Insight: This time its a shoulder issue. No fantasy owners should be considering him for a roster spot of any kind.
5/2/2014 6:11:00 PM
Description: Minnesota has placed right-hander Mike Pelfrey on the 15-day DL with a strained groin.
Insight: This sounds like a phantom injury the Twins made up just to get him out of the rotation. Who could blame them after Pelfrey's latest outing against the Dodgers (4 IP, 7 H, 5 ER)? Obviously, he's no one fantasy owners should be considering right now.

Description: Mike Pelfrey's next game for Minnesota may have to come as a relief pitcher. SOURCE: MLBlogs.com
Insight: Pelfrey pitched very poorly Thursday against Los Angeles (4 IP, 7 H, 5 ER) and is close to losing his spot in the starting rotation. He wasn't on the fantasy radar anyway so most owners won't be affected by this change if and when it takes place.
12/14/2013 9:10:00 PM
Description: The Twins have re-signed right-hander Mike Pelfrey to a two-year contract for $11 million, according to Jon Heyman of cbssports.com.
Insight: Pelfrey had a 5.19 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP over 152 2/3 innings last season with Minnesota and isn't likely to be a fantasy option in 2014.
6/23/2013 10:37:00 AM
Description: Minnesota righthander Mike Pelfrey has been moved to the 15-day DL because of a strained back.
Insight: Pelfrey hasn't won a decision in over a month and his ERA is over six. Even when healthy, he's not a fantasy option.

Insight: Pelfrey went 50-54 with a 4.36 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 153 games (149 starts) over seven seasons with the New York Mets, who drafted him with the ninth overall pick in 2005. However, he only made three starts in 2012 before having Tommy John surgery. Pelfrey is the third starter Minnesota has added this offseason after Vance Worley and Kevin Correia.

Description: Mike Pelfrey will have his elbow examined by Dr. James Andrews on Friday. He is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery in the next couple of days.
Insight: It doesn't look like we'll see Pelfrey (0-0, 2.29 ERA in three starts in 2012) in uniform again until 2013.
4/24/2012 6:20:00 PM
Description: The Mets believe Mike Pelfrey (elbow) has a partially torn UCL, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Insight: Pelfrey is getting a second opinion before committing to Tommy John surgery, but it looks as though he's done for the year.
4/24/2012 4:51:00 PM
Description: Mike Pelfrey has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow injury. He'll have an MRI on Tuesday to determine if there is any structural damage.
Insight: Pelfrey could be headed for Tommy John surgery if his MRI reveals ligament damage. The former first-round pick is off to a solid start this year, carrying a 2.29 ERA in three starts despite a 1.42 WHIP. However, his season might be in jeopardy.
4/21/2012 9:27:00 PM
Description: Mike Pelfrey was denied his first win of the season despite giving up one run on six hits and one walks with three strikeouts in eight innings against the Giants on Saturday.
Insight: Pelfrey turned a 4-1 lead over to Frank Francisco, but he gave up three runs in the ninth. Pelfrey has been much improved this season (2.29 ERA), but his 1.42 WHIP suggests that number will rise steadily soon so don't trust him.
5/11/2011 5:34:00 AM
Description: Mets SP Mike Pelfrey allowed the Rockies to score 3 runs on 6 hits and a walk, picking up the win after 6 2/3 innings of work. Pelfrey picked up his third win despite giving up 3 home runs.
Insight: Pelfrey has won 3 out of his last 4 starts, but has given up 5 homers in those starts. He is still best used in NL-only leagues.
4/23/2011 7:41:00 AM
Description: Mets SP Mike Pelfrey allowed just 1 run in 7 innings against Arizona, picking up his first win of the year. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 while striking out 4.
Insight: This was, by far, Pelfrey's best start of the season. Don't rush to add him a he is still just a match-ups guy in NL-only leagues. He needs about 3-4 more of these starts before he is safe to use in mixed leagues.
4/12/2011 6:17:00 AM
Description: Mets SP Mike Pelfrey allowed 4 runs (3 earned) but took the no decision in the Mets' loss to the Rockies yesterday. He gave up 6 hits and 4 walks while adding 3 strikeouts.
Insight: Pelfrey was well over 100 pitches in his 6 innings of work and a WHIP of 2.00 is not a good sign. The Mets hoped he would take the next step in his career but, until he limits the base runners, he is only worth considering in NL-only leagues.
4/6/2011 9:59:00 PM
Description: New York Mets de-facto "ace" Mike Pelfrey fell apart again Wednesday night. Lasting only 2 innings, he allowed 8 hits and 7 runs (6 earned). His first two 2011 starts have both been abysmal, so both the Mets and fantasy owners should be concerned.
2/22/2011 11:26:00 AM
Description: Mets SP Mike Pelfrey struggled with his sinker in 2010 and hope to use his best pitch more effectively this season.
SOURCE: The Star-Ledger
Insight: Pelfrey was solid in 2010, with 15 wins and a 3.66 ERA, and should improve on his performance in 2011. His career WHIP is too high and his K's too low for regular use in deeper mixed leagues, however, so his value really lies in NL-only leagues.
1/19/2011 11:43:00 AM
Description: Mike Pelfrey signed a 1-year deal with the Mets, avoiding arbitration.
Insight: Pelfrey started last season strong but faltered during the summer. Pelfrey has averaged 196 innings over the last three season and is a solid #4/5 SP in mixed leagues.
10/4/2010 9:01:00 AM
Description: Pelfrey allowed one run on four hits over seven innings on Sunday against the Nationals. He walked two and struck out four.
Insight: Pelfrey finished the year strong with five straight quality starts of seven innings or more. He did not factor into the decision on Sunday as he ended the year at 15-9 with a 3.66 ERA. (RapidDraft.com)
9/29/2010 1:05:00 AM
Description: Pelfrey allowed three runs on five hits over 7.1 innings on Tuesday against the Brewers. He walked four and struck out two.
Insight: Pelfrey had his fourth straight quality start but did not factor in to the decision. He remains at 15-9 with a 3.75 ERA. (RapidDraft.com)
