Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth will not be in Thursday's starting lineup.
Insight: Werth is "old" and gets extra days off. OK, 35-years-old isn't old, but he's batting just .167 and can use the time off. The Nationals should soon be at full strength offensively.

Insight: Werth is just 2-for-20 in the five games since his return to the lineup. Clint Robinson is starting in left field.

Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth (shoulder) has been activated for Monday's game against Boston.
Insight: The Nationals can use a boost on offense after losing two of three in Philadelphia and scoring just seven runs over the three-game set. Now if they can just get Anthony Rendon and Denard Span to go along with their pitching staff they will be just fine. Update: Werth is batting cleanup.

Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth (shoulder) is expected to begin a short rehab assignment on Thursday.
Insight: He's recovering from a surgically-repaired shoulder. He's no longer the home run hitter he was in Philadelphia, but he is a 15-20 HR, 80 RBI guy with solid on-base numbers because he knows how to take a walk.

4/4/2015 11:08:00 AM
Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth could return sometime in the first week of the season, according to Washington manager Matt Williams.
Insight: He's recovering from a surgically-repaired shoulder. He's not longer the home run hitter he was in Philadelphia, but he has made himself into a .300 hitter with decent power.

Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth played in a minor league game on Monday.
Insight: He's recovering from a surgically-repaired shoulder. If he's not ready for Opening Day it shouldn't be a long wait until he's ready to go.

3/26/2015 3:51:00 PM
Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth is still dealing with soreness in his shoulder, according to manager Matt Williams.
Insight: This is on his surically-repaired shoulder, so it is definitely concerning. We would not count on Werth being ready for Opening Day.

3/22/2015 12:15:00 PM
Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth (shoulder) could take at-bats at some point this week.

1/22/2015 2:16:00 PM
Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth told the Washington Post that his goal is to be ready for the start of the 2015 season.
Insight: Werth received surgery to repair the AC joint in his right shoulder in January. Rehab for this type of injury typically takes two to three months, so that puts him on par with a possible opening day return. Werth went on to say he will not jeopardize further injury to play on opening day, but that is still his goal.

Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth will undergo arthroscopic surgery Friday on his right shoulder, and will likely be sidelined for the next 2-to-3 months.
Insight: This puts Werth's availability for the season-opener in extreme question. If he is not ready to play, Michael Taylor would likely find himself in the Opening Day lineup.

9/16/2014 11:10:00 AM
Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth faces a tough test tonight against the Braves.
