Description: Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg is developing a slider, according to the Washington Post.
Insight: He picked up the pitch from teammates Jordan Zimmermann and Dan Haren and worked on grips and release points this offseason. Strasburg threw the second hardest fastball among starters last season at 95.2 mph and also had one of the top curveballs and changeups in the majors. If he can master a slider on top of those three pitches, it will help him take the next step toward becoming a top-five pitcher in the game.

Description: Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg, who had surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow, is expected to be ready for Day 1 of Spring Training.
Insight: Strasburg didn't get much run support last season (3.47 RS was tenth-worst in the National League) but that shouldn't keep owners from taking him early in the 2014 fantasy draft as he posted a 3.00 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 191 Ks in 183 IP.

Insight: He'll be on the shelf for about 4-to-6 weeks. Strasburg didn't get much run support last season (3.47 RS was tenth-worst in the National League) but that shouldn't keep owners from taking him early in the 2014 fantasy draft.

Description: In his last start of 2013, Stephen Strasburg led the Nationals to a win over Arizona Friday night.
Insight: Strasburg threw seven innings and gave up two runs. He went 8-9 this year despite recording a 3.00 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP and 191 strikeouts in 183 innings. His record should turn around next year as the Nationals bounce back from a disappointing season.

Insight: The Washington starter was slated to pitch on Saturday but that game got rained out. Strasburg (7-9, 2.96 ERA) missed his last turn in the rotation because of forearm stiffness.

Description: Stephen Strasburg has been confirmed as the starter for Washington's game Saturday against the Marlins, according to Adam Kilgore.
Insight: Strasburg hasn't pitched since Sept. 8 due to forearm tightness. While his K/9 is down and his record has gone from 15-6 to 7-9, Strasburg has performed better this season than he did in 2012. His ERA and WHIP have dropped and his H/9 is down from 7.7 to 6.6.

Description: Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg (forearm) is expected to start Thursday against the Marlins, according to James Wagner of the Washington Post.

Description: Washington starter Stephen Strasburg will remain on regular rest, meaning he won't start Sunday against the Mets. SOURCE: Washington Times
Insight: Strasburg only threw 22 pitches in his start Wednesday due to a lengthy rain delay. The team wants to keep him on his regular routine, so he'll start Monday at Philadelphia.
8/22/2013 8:56:00 PM
Description: Nats starter Stephen Strasburg ran out of gas in the ninth inning and had to settle for the no-decision Thursday against the Cubs.
Insight: Strasburg entered the ninth with a 4-1 lead but Donnie Murphy delivered a game-tying homer with two outs in the inning. That's just the kind of year it's been for the former No. 1 pick. In seven starts since the All-Star break, Strasburg has only recorded one victory (3.02 ERA during that span).
8/17/2013 9:02:00 PM
Description: Washington starter Stephen Strasburg was tossed from Saturday's game after throwing at Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons.
Insight: Strasburg (6-9, 2.93 ERA) also beaned Justin Upton. Clearly Strasburg was trying to retaliate for the Braves hitting Bryce Harper twice on Friday night. He allowed two runs and two hits in his lone inning of work. A suspension is unlikely but Strasburg could draw a fine.
8/11/2013 8:07:00 PM
Description: Nats righthander Stephen Strasburg recorded his first career shutout Sunday versus Philadelphia.
Insight: It's the fourth time this season Strasburg has made it through at least eight innings. The win snaps a five-game winless streak for Strasburg. His 2.83 ERA is the eighth-lowest in the National League this season.
8/5/2013 10:06:00 PM
Description: Washington righthander Stephen Strasburg turned in a quality start Monday night against the Braves but his team only scored two runs so he had to settle for the no-decision.
Insight: Strasburg (7 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 9 K's) would probably have ten wins already if he played for a team like Detroit or Boston. Instead, he's on the Nats, who are just 6-11 since the All-Star break. Coming into the game, Strasburg had the second-lowest run support in the majors behind Chicago's Chris Sale. Obviously, Strasburg (5-9, 3.01 ERA) is still worth owning in all formats. Just don't count on him to pile on the Ws.
7/24/2013 10:35:00 PM
Description: Nats ace Stephen Strasburg dropped to 5-8 after losing to the Pirates on Wednesday.
Insight: Strasburg actually tossed a great game, surrendering just two hits and one run with a season-high 12 strikeouts in eight innings. Unfortunately, his teammates let him down by only scoring two runs on five hits (both runs came in the ninth inning). The Nationals are in really tough shape right now. They've lost six in a row and are now nine games out in the Wild Card. Unless something miraculous happens, this team isn't making the playoffs.
7/19/2013 10:15:00 PM
Description: Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out six over seven innings Friday against the Dodgers, but he took another no decision.
Insight: Strasburg is just 5-7 this season despite carrying a 2.97 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP through 19 starts.
7/7/2013 6:45:00 PM
Description: Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg allowed more than two earned runs in a start for the first time since May 4 Sunday against the Padres, but the Nats scored 11 runs to help him get his fifth win.
Insight: Strasburg struck out nine and allowed four earned on seven hits over six innings Sunday. It's about time the Nats helped him out with some runs. Strasburg is 5-6 with a 2.45 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP this year.
7/2/2013 10:38:00 PM
Description: Washington ace Stephen Strasburg did his part Tuesday, keeping the Brewers scoreless in seven innings of work.
Insight: Unfortunately, the offense didn't keep their end of the bargain and the Nats ended up losing 4-0. Strasburg has had to settle for no-decisions in each of his last two outings despite carrying a 1.29 ERA over that span. He'd probably be in the Cy Young conversation if the Nationals would give him some run support once in a while.
6/27/2013 10:41:00 PM
Description: Washington starter Stephen Strasburg tossed seven innings Thursday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks.
Insight: Over that span, he allowed six hits and two runs with four strikeouts and two walks. Strasburg's ERA sits at 2.41, which is more than half a run lower than the 3.16 ERA he posted during his All-Star 2012 campaign.
6/21/2013 9:42:00 PM
Description: Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg fired seven innings, allowed five hits and one run and struck out nine without walking a batter Friday against the Rockies.
Insight: For most of the game, it looked like Strasburg would be taking another tough-luck loss, but Washington tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth and took a 2-1 lead in the following inning. Strasburg is 4-6 despite carrying a 2.40 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP.
