GAME NOTES: The Wichita State Shockers are looking to get back in a groove as they play host to the Drake Bulldogs in a Missouri Valley Conference matchup at the Charles Koch Arena.

Drake most recently suffered a loss in overtime to Evansville, 84-78. It was the second loss in a row for the Bulldogs, who are now just 11-13 overall and an equally disappointing 5-8 in conference play. This is the second of a two- game road trip for Drake before going back home to host three in a row at the Drake Knapp Center.

The Shockers are coming off a much needed win over Missouri State, 79-50. The dominating win ended a three-game losing streak for Wichita State and was the first of a two-game homestand for Shockers. With the win, the Shockers are tied with Creighton atop the league standings at 9-4.

Wichita State leads the all-time series 95-47 over Drake. The Shockers have won six of the last 10 meetings, including a 75-63 win in Des Moines just over a month ago.

The loss to the Purple Aces was in no way due to the play of Ben Simons. Simons did all he could to carry the squad, shooting 9-of-12 from the field and 5-of-7 from 3-point range, while tallying 27 points. Richard Carter had 13 points with seven assists and Seth VanDeest managed 11 points. Jordan Clarke had a double-double with 14 rebounds and 10 points, but Colt Ryan recorded 33 points to help Evansville take the win. Simons is the only Bulldog averaging in double-figure scoring this season with 14.0 ppg, while Carter and VanDeest add 9.3 ppg each. Clarke is the team's top rebounder, pulling down 8.3 per game. Drake allows opponents to score high and efficiently at 74.4 ppg and over 45.0 percent shooting from the field.

Cleanthony Early was one of four Wichita State players to score in double figures in the win over Missouri State. Early was 5-of-8 from the field with 16 points and eight rebounds. Nick Wiggins scored 11 points, while Tekele Cotton and Malcolm Armstead added 10 each. The squad held Missouri State to just 31.4 percent shooting from the field. Early is the top scorer for the Shockers with 14.7 ppg on 47.7 percent shooting from the floor. Carl Hall adds 12.2 ppg and 7.3 rpg but has played in just 18 games this season. Although the squads scores almost 70 ppg, it is most impressive on the defense end, holding opponents below 40.0 percent shooting from the field and just 58.9 ppg, one of the top 30 scoring defenses in the nation.

Wichita State has been near perfect on its home court, winning 13-of-14 games. After losing their last bout at home the Shockers could have a little extra energy to go out and take care of business in front of their fans.

Sports Network Projected Outcome: Wichita State 78, Drake 61
