Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Dykstra scored the final 14 points for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits as they narrowly beat the Denver Pioneers, 74-73, in a Summit League clash at Magness Arena.
Dykstra had 18 points for the Jackrabbits (11-10, 3-3 Summit), who snapped a two-game losing skid. Cody Larson registered 17 points and nine rebounds while Chad White chipped in 13 points, and Jake Bittle had 10.
Chris Udofia finished with 20 points for the Pioneers (10-11, 3-3), who had their three-game winning streak halted. Brett Olson added 16 points and five assists, with Jalen Love tallying 12 points. Bryant Rucker and Cam Griffin 11 points apiece.
Denver connected on 54.5 percent of its field goal attempts in the first period as it led 33-28 at the half. SDSU made 50 percent of its shots from the field.
The Jackrabbits converted 48.1 percent of their shots from the floor but went 15-of-20 from the free-throw line, with Dykstra scoring all of his 18 points in the second stanza. The Jackrabbits went on a 16-6 run to tie the game up at 62-62 with 2:51 on the clock after being down by 10. Dykstra hit a 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining to put SDSU up one. After making two free throws, Rucker made a shot with one second as the Jackrabbits held on for the win.
SDSU dominated the glass by outrebounding Denver 30-18, limiting the hosts to a mere two offensive rebounds.
