Norman, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - All five starters scored in double figures for Oklahoma as the Sooners took down the Mercer Bears, 96-82, in a non-league battle at the Lloyd Noble Center.
Ryan Spangler posted a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds for Oklahoma (6-1). Buddy Hield added 20 points, Cameron Clark tacked on 19, Jordan Woodard tallied 13 and Isaiah Cousins chimed in with 10.
Monty Brown came off the bench to record 16 points and seven rebounds for Mercer (5-4). Phillip Leonard scored 12 points, also as a reserve, and Bud Thomas chipped in 11.
In the first half the Sooners connected on 56.3 percent of their shots from the floor while the Bears were at just 44.8 percent. Mercer did have as many 3-pointers in the period as Oklahoma (four) but the Sooners led 45-32 at the break.
After intermission the Sooners hit on 44.4 percent of their field goal tries, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range, while sinking 21-of-25 from the free- throw line to coast to victory.
Oklahoma scored 22 points off of turnovers. Mercer lost despite an edge in rebounds (37-33) and on points in the paint (34-28).
