Huntsville, TX (Sports Network) - Terrance Motley came off the bench to tally 14 points and pull down eight rebounds to help lead the Sam Houston State Bearkats to a 64-50 win over the Liberty Flames as part of sub-regional action in the Legends Classic at Bernard Johnson Coliseum.
Also scoring in double figures for the Bearkats (2-3) was James Thomas who dropped in 13 points and also cleared eight boards in the victory.
The Flames (0-5) were paced by Davon Marshall who scored a game-high 15 points as he made good on 3-of-7 shots behind the three-point line.
Liberty, which led by three points midway through the first half, converted a total of just six field goals in the period, including 2-of-9 behind the three-point line, en route to a 24-15 deficit at the break. Sam Houston State knocked down a meager 36.0 percent from the floor in the frame.
In the second half the Bearkats began to pull away with 16-of-25 shooting at the free-throw line and 44.0 percent accuracy from the field.
In addition to shooting only 33.3 percent from the field in the outing, the Flames also turned the ball over 15 times, leading to 17 points for the hosts.
