Evansville, IN (Sports Network) - Ed Daniel registered a double-double with 21 points and a game-high 15 rebounds as the Murray State Racers captured an 82-70 win over the Evansville Purple Aces in non-conference action at the Ford Center.
Also scoring 21 points for the Racers (7-1) was Isaiah Canaan who added six rebounds and four assists in an effort to offset his seven turnovers for a team that has now won four in a row. Stacy Wilson accounted for 18 points and Brandon Garrett 16 for the visitors as well.
The Purple Aces (5-3), losers of two of their last three, were paced by Ned Cox with 16 points and DJ Balentine with 15 off the bench. Colt Ryan checked in with 13 points and Troy Taylor posted 11 points and a team-best 12 boards in the losing cause.
Despite shooting only 2-of-6 behind the three-point line in the first half, Evansville made good on an impressive 51.9 percent from the floor overall in order to post a 39-36 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Aces sank to just 34.5 percent accuracy from the field and MSU exploded to knock down 66.7 percent as the Racers ran away with the double-digit win.
Murray State connected on just 12-of-22 at the free-throw line on the day, but made up for that by winning the battle of the boards, 41-30.
