Pullman, WA (Sports Network) - Mike Ladd led the way with 22 points to push the Washington State Cougars to a 75-65 decision over the Utah Utes in a Pac-12 Conference matchup at Beasley Coliseum.
Brock Motum and Royce Wooldridge scored 14 points each for Washington State (10-7, 1-3 Pac-12) as it picked up its first conference victory. D.J. Shelton and DaVonte Lacy chipped in 10 points each for the Cougars.
Brandon Taylor went 3-of-4 from beyond the arc on his way to a team-best 13 points for Utah (8-9, 0-5) as it suffered its fifth consecutive loss. Justin Seymour chimed in with 11 points and five assists while Jason Washburn tallied 10 points.
The Cougars came out of the gate hot as they hit 7-of-11 from beyond the arc to build a 34-26 lead as the game progressed into the intermission. Utah stayed within striking distance by shooting 45.5 percent from the floor in the opening period.
WSU protected its advantage for the entire second half by converting 13-of-21 at the charity stripe. The Utes were unable to come back despite making 6- of-12 from 3-point range after the break.
The Cougars scored 28 points off of 17 turnovers while the Utes managed only 11 points off of WSU's 12 miscues.
