New York, NY (Sports Network) - Trevor Lacey led the way for the Alabama Crimson Tide as he scored 20 points en route to a 65-62 win over Oregon State at Madison Square Garden in part of the 2K Sports Classic.
Lacey was 4-of-7 from three-point range in the Crimson Tide (3-0) victory. Trevor Releford scored 14 points and Rodney Cooper added 14. The five starters only turned the ball over four times combined throughout the game.
Devon Collier scored 21 points off the bench for Oregon State (2-1) in its loss. Angus Brandt recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Eric Moreland pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Crimson Tide led 35-32 at halftime even though the Beavers shot a better percentage from the field and from three-point range. Oregon State hit on 47.8 percent of its shots with Alabama just behind at 46.7 percent.
With the score tied 62-62, Cooper nailed a 3-pointer with 13 seconds remaining which proved to be the difference. Alabama had a 15-0 advantage from beyond the arc in the final 20 minutes.
Alabama will play Villanova in the finals of the 2K Sports Classic. Oregon State will play the Purdue in the consolation round.
