Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Pierce Hornung finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead six double-digit scorers as Colorado State handled TCU, 81-60, in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
Wes Eikmeier had 15 points, Will Bell netted 14, Dwight Smith contributed 13, Dorian Green scored 11 and Jesse Carr filled the stat sheet with 10 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for Colorado State (20-10).
The Rams, who earned their third straight win, will face San Diego State in the semifinals on Friday.
Hank Thorns scored a game-high 19 points and J.R. Cadot added 10 for TCU (17-14), which ended its season on a three-game losing streak.
Colorado State controlled the game from the start, opening with an 11-2 run and never looked back.
Green's jumper put the Rams on top by double-digits, 17-7, a little over seven minutes into the half before Adrick McKinney made the back end of two free throws and Thorns' steal and fastbreak layup closed the gap to seven.
Colorado State, though, responded with an 8-3 spurt to take a 12-point advantage and TCU never got closer than eight points from there as the Rams gradually built their lead en route to a 42-26 advantage at the break.
The Horned Frogs threatened to close the gap to single digits once in the second half when a 14-4 run shrank a 21-point Colorado State lead to a 53-42 deficit with about 13 minutes left in the contest.
But the Rams scored the game's next five points to regain some cushion and led by at least 14 points and by as many as 22 for the remainder of the game.
