Springfield, MO (Sports Network) - Dwayne Lathan scored 12 points to lead the Indiana State Sycamores to a 59-46 victory over the Missouri State Bears in Missouri Valley Conference action at JQH Arena.
Jordan Printy added 11 points for the Sycamores (17-12, 8-9 MVC) as they won for the third time in four games. Carl Richard chipped in 10 points while Jake Odum grabbed 10 rebounds for Indiana State.
Anthony Downing paced Missouri State (16-14, 9-8) with 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the floor. Jamar Gulley recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Bears lost their third game in a row.
Indiana State took a 28-18 lead into the intermission after it shot 44 percent from the floor in the opening period. The Bears fell behind after they made just 25.8 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half.
Missouri State improved to 36.4 percent shooting after the break, but the Sycamores remained in front for the entire contest as they converted 9-of-12 from the charity stripe in second half.
The Bears were ice cold from the outside as they made just 2-of-16 from beyond the arc in the contest. Indiana State held a 41-34 advantage in the rebounding battle.
