College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Terrell Stoglin scored 20 points as the Maryland Terrapins rallied for a 75-70 victory over the Miami-Florida Hurricanes in Atlantic Coast Conference action at the Comcast Center.
James Padgett put in 16 points and Sean Mosley notched 15 for Maryland (16-11, 6-7 ACC) which had lost two of three entering play. Nick Faust led the Terrapins with eight rebounds.
Kenny Kadji scored 16 points and collected eight rebounds while Durand Scott scored 15 before fouling out for Miami-Florida (16-10, 7-6). The Hurricanes have lost three of their last four.
The Terrapins opened the game on a 13-3 run but the Hurricanes responded and led by a 35-31 margin going into the break.
Maryland trailed 66-61 with 2:04 but took a 67-66 lead with 44 seconds remaining after Padgett ripped down an offensive rebound over two Hurricanes and hit a free throw after being fouled in making the put back shot. Mosley came up with the ball off a Scott turnover on Miami-Florida's next possession after which Scott fouled out sending Mosley to the line in hopes of extending the game. The Terrapins went 8-of-8 from the free throw line down the stretch to pull out the win.
The Terrapins closed the game on a 14-4 run and had eight second chance points in the second half after recording none in the first period.
Maryland shot 45.6 percent for the game while Miami-Florida went just 38.5 percent from the field overall.
