Athens, OH (Sports Network) - Walter Offutt scored 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field to pace Ohio University to an 81-62 victory over UNC- Asheville at the Convocation Center.
Stevie Taylor added 12 points and Nick Kellogg netted 10 for the Bobcats (21-6), who have won two in a row following a two-game skid.
Matt Dickey and Jeremy Atkinson each scored 16 for the Bulldogs (19-9), who shot 34 percent from the field. UNC-Asheville went 5-of-23 in the first half, and the Big South regular season champions didn't recover. Asheville has not recorded a non-conference road win this year as the Bulldogs are 0-4 in such affairs.
The contest, which was part of the BracketBusters event, saw the Bobcats dominate the first half and then cruise to victory as Ohio University moved to 15-1 at home. That's the most home wins ever in a single season for the Bobcats.
Two made free throws from Ricardo Johnson bolted the Bobcats to an 8-1 lead, and they widened the gap to 34-18 at the half. Ohio led by as many as 23 in the second half.
The Bobcats were able to pull away thanks to shooting an incredible 17-of-23 from the field over the final 20 minutes.
