Springfield, MO (Sports Network) - Anthony Downing scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dealt out six assists as the Missouri State Bears downed the Bradley Braves 64-53 in Missouri Valley Conference action at JQH Arena.
Caleb Patterson scored 14 points for the Bears (16-11, 9-6 MVC), who have won four of their last five. Kyle Weems added 11 points while Keith Pickens ripped down 12 rebounds.
Dyricus Sims-Edwards topped all scorers with 18 points for the Braves (7-20, 2-13), who have lost seven of their last eight. Walt Lemon, Jr. added 13 points and Jordan Prosser 10. Sims-Edwards grabbed six boards.
Missouri State took a 29-25 halftime lead despite shooting just 9-of-28 from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. The Bears led by 12 at one point.
There were five lead changes and three ties early in the second half before the Bears grabbed the lead for good at 41-40 with 12:13 remaining. The hosts helped their cause by making 12-of-14 foul shots in the second half.
Missouri State was 18-of-20 from the line for the game.
