Greenville, SC (Sports Network) - Brandon Sebirumbi scored 20 points, leading six players in double figures, as the Furman Paladins defeated the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 93-85, in a Southern Conference tilt at Timmons Arena.
Richard Brown added 16 points from off the bench in the win for Furman (12-11. 6-6 SoCon), which also got 14 points from Charlie Reddick. Bryant Irwin tallied 12 points as well for the Paladins, while the duo of Jordan Loyd and Bobby Austin finished with 11 points apiece.
Trevis Simpson posted a game-high 28 points to lead the way for UNCG (9-15, 7-5), while Derrell Armstrong checked in from off the bench to net 24 points. Aloysius Henry got into the mix as well, chipping in 13 points in a losing effort.
The Spartans were held to just 30.0 percent from the floor during the opening frame, enabling Furman to take a 39-30 lead into the break.
In the second half, the Paladins sunk 28-of-33 at the foul line to secure the eight-point victory.
The Paladins made good on 37-of-47 (78.7 percent) at the charity stripe during the meeting.
